This place is amazing! Perfect for a few families to come with kids, hang out, and enjoy the lake life. Our kiddos ranging in age from 5-13, girls and boys, loved the themed bunk room. It was great to have a space for kids and adults. The hosts were incredibly responsive throughout our stay in answering any questions we had. We hope to come back!

This property was a beyond perfect! Harold and Amy are the sweetest hosts and were so accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay feel absolutely perfect. The back yard is like a little private oasis with the most beautiful setting. Our whole family loved swimming, fishing, boating and kayaking in Hackert Lake. The beach area was so cute and had everything we needed. The house was amazing! The bunk room is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The creativity that was showcased was truly magical. I believe the adults loved it just as much as the kids. The kitchen had everything we needed and the screened in porch was perfect for late night sitting. We had a large group of 8 adults and 4 kids and we were all really comfortable. My husband and I slept in the bunks ans well an our kids and they were honestly so comfortable. The bunk room was large enough that my brother and sister in law brought a blow up mattress and set it up next to their son’s pack in play, but they also could have slept on the futons and would have slept just as good. It was truly the perfect place for our families to come together and enjoy everything Ludington had to offer! We were all sad to leave and cannot wait to come back and stay at the Star Wars Lodge! If you are on the fence about booking this property I would highly recommend to just BOOK it! You won’t be disappointed! The setting is one of a kind and it’s so close to downtown Ludington. Best of all worlds! Thank you Harold and Amy!

Great Stay!

Everything was exactly as pictured and what we expected. Our kids loved the star wars room and it worked perfect for the 5 of them. The beach was a huge hit with our littles and the older kids spent most of their days on the kayaks or canoe. Harold and Amy were great hosts and were always quick to respond to anything we needed!

Family vacation

We really enjoyed the home. The kids loved the Star Wars theme and played it up daily. We were close to Ludington so we were able to go into town for some day ventures and went to the state park as well. It was adequate the 12 of us. We reached out to the owner on 2 occasions and she responded quickly a couple of times and she was right there for us fulfilling our request time at the lake. The children enjoyed all the opportunities that were there for them. Fishing kayaking ping pong badminton.

Just a great getaway.

For a lake house, this cottage has TONS of outdoor space. Massive yard, visits from some wildlife friends (fawns), fun fishing from canoes and kayaks, shallow sandy shoreline for young kids and large screened in porch make this property a great for a family getaway with a lot of outdoor time. The Star Wars room is awesome. Great for a group of kids, even if not all of them want to play Xbox or watch TV. Lots of room for many kids activities and games. It’s also nicely isolated from the “adult” side of the house with a big door and some good sound insulation, haha! All in all - not much to complain about on this one. Great little getaway for my family. This was my kids favorite house we’ve visited in the last 11 yrs or so. 5-stars.

Relaxing Retreat

We absolutely loved this property! Every view from inside the house is beautiful. The lake was warm and so peaceful as it is very quiet throughout the week. Our teenaged boys loved playing king of the hill on the water mats, kayaking and fishing. The adults also enjoyed kayaking and floating in the water or just sitting with a drink and taking in the views and sounds of the water. The house is beautiful and clean and the beds were all very comfortable! We would love to return in the future! Thank you!!

Beautiful property

Our family had an amazing stay here. The house was very clean. The sand on the beach was soft and clean and extended into the lake. The kids had so much fun going on kayaks and playing on the lily pads in the water. The owners were very responsive and check in with you often. Would definitely stay here again!

The 4th with the family

Fantastic property! Huge yard. Very private and quiet. Nice lake with a little beach for the kids. The canoe and kayaks were a big hit. Very cool Star Wars bunkhouse room. Nice kitchen with large picnic style table for family meals and games.

A little slice of heaven

What an unexpected little gem of a place! We could not have had a more wonderful stay. From the beautiful lakeside location to the close proximity to Ludington, to the large greenspace that was perfect for family volleyball, and the cozy cottage that was equal parts comfortable and awesome for the kids – we couldn’t have dreamed up a better spot for a family vacation. This house has every amenity you could want - plenty of games and activities for the kids, kayaks, and a canoe for the lake, a fully decked out kitchen, and tons of the little things that make life a bit easier – towels, linens, soaps, paper towels. Amy and Harold really thought of every last detail and we are so grateful for their hospitality. We will definitely be back!

House was perfect, has everything you need. The beach was sandy and the grandkids loved their time in the lake, plenty of beach toys available from owners. The lake is picturesque with loons and bald eagle sightings. The Star Wars room was amazing and enjoyed by kids of all ages, nerf gun battles everyday by grandparents, parents, and grandchildren. Meijer store close by for the things we forgot. Plenty of activities nearby-golf, downtown Ludington, county fairgrounds, the Jam Farm, Amber Elk ranch, Country Dairy Farm, Mac Woods Dune rides-so much to do in the area. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend!!!!

Beautiful and Relaxing

We had everything we needed! The kayaks and canoe were a hit for all of us. The 5 kids (ages 5,7,9) loved the nerf guns and the Star Wars room overall. Harold and Amy were very responsive and gracious.

Property was exactly as stated. Kids loved the star wars room and the beach and lake. It was nice to have the kayaks there as they got a lot of use. Everything was clean and in order when we got there. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect in every way!

5/5 Excellent The Star Lodge was the perfect place for our family of 11 to stay from July 15-22nd, 2023. The Star Wars theme in the bunk room was well done, and fun for kids and adults alike. The the nerf guns were a great attraction. There was plenty of room for all of us, and we enjoyed eating together at a table to fit us all. The kitchen was well stocked, as well as linens and towels. The screened in porch housed the grill, and we had a wonderful view of the spacious yard, watching the black squirrels and deer. We gathered almost nightly at the fire pit, and appreciated that the firewood was plentiful. The water at the dock was very shallow, but we were able to dock our boat, and "walk" the boat out to deeper water when we took the boat out to tube or ski. The house and the property were very clean, and the hosts were very kind. Our whole family recommends this property because of the wonderful experience we had!

Property was perfect!

The photos on VRBO truly don’t give justice to the Star Lodge! Gorgeous park-like secluded setting right on Hackert Lake- an all sports lake. We enjoyed watching a deer family every morning, heard and saw a loon, caught several bass and also kept tabs on the cutest turtle family off the dock. The cabin inside has been completely remodeled and has every possible amenity imaginable (in the kitchen, for the lake, even provided firewood!!). Beautiful, spacious and might be the cleanest place we have rented in 20 years of renting from VRBO. The owners were very easy to communicate with yet not intrusive. The location also allowed us to jaunt into Ludington for meals and to Manistee for a couple rounds of golf. Highly recommend! Thanks for sharing your place with us!

Great Place! Great Times!

Our family totally enjoyed our stay at the Star Wars Home! Needless to say the nerf guns were a hit! We enjoyed the beach and kayaks. The dock was used by the grandkids alot for fishing. Super huge yard was enjoyed by all. House was comfortable and spacious. Well stocked kitchen. Bring your own water for drinking. Limited to one load of laundry per day. Host was quick to respond. We would rent again!!

Family Vacation at the Star Lodge

We had the absolute best time at this property! We are not huge Star Wars fans, but the 5 kiddos thought the "Nerf" space ship was the coolest thing ever (sorry Harold, we renamed it haha)! The rest of the home was so comfortable, cute and cozy too! The water was crystal clear and I never once felt nervous about my kids playing in the water...it was shallow and only went up to my 3 year olds belly at the end of the pier. The kayaks and Canoe were a blast, the property was secluded and you basically have your own little penisula. We had a fishing boat with us and caught bass, blue gills, and crappie! Lots of frogs on the shore...kids caught about 15-20 and that was definitely the highlight of their trip! The lake is small, quiet, not too busy even on a Saturday, and everyone was very responsible and cautious with tubing/jet skis. As always, we went to Ludington state park and walked the beautiful trail, Lake Michigan Beaches, had lots of ice cream in town, went blueberry picking (meijers sells dry ice if you want to back a cooler of frozen berries for home). There is the cutest farmers market with yummy jams, eggs, and produce a few miles away that we loved!!! Another cute store is the Amish owned one in Scottville with lots of fun bulk nuts, candy, spices, ect. Our hosts were fantastic and went out of their way to make our trip wonderful! We had everything we needed and more! If you want a relaxing vacation, don't wait to book!

Amazing property and home

Our family trip includes grandparents and 2 families that include 5 kids from ages 11 to 2 rents a cabin each year to have a week for spending some time together. This was by far the best place that we’ve rented in the years of this tradition. The home was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Adults and kids alike enjoyed all of the spaces made available. The lake was the perfect spot with a shallow, sandy beach area, great fishing, and next time we plan to bring a boat to enjoy. Perfect location to Ludington (about 10 minutes away), but the home itself feels very private and relaxing. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation!!

Fantastic vacation house for families

The star lodge was amazing! We had the best time staying on the lake. It is prefect for families. The Star Wars bunk room was huge and had lots of fun areas for our kids. The rest of the house is spacious and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and they even set up a pack and play for our little one. The lake is beautiful, sandy and shallow by the dock so our kids could play and swim without worry. We had a blast fishing and kayaking all over the lake. Very secluded lot with a huge beautiful yard. Town is close by and we had wonderful recommendations for places to visit. The added bonus was the personal communication and cute little gifts at check in. Highly recommend this lake house and we will definitely be back to stay as soon as we can! Loved it so much!

The perfect family vacation

My wife and I stayed at this property with our six kids for a week at the start of September 2021. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. The house was extremely clean and well-setup for our needs. Our favorite things: boating on the amazing lake, the awesome Star Wars bunk room, sitting and reading down by the dock, playing games in the HUGE side yard, making meals in the wonderful kitchen, and going into Ludington to enjoy the town and amazing beaches. We've had the opportunity to stay at a few rentals as a family. This is by far our favorite, and we hope to return next year.
