The market town of Schnabelwaid—first mentioned in the 12th century—is picturesquely situated in the Weiherbach Valley and is one of the most idyllic spots in the region. Guests and residents alike appreciate Schnabelwaid’s village charm, which is further enhanced by its convenient location along the B2/B85, the A9 interstate, and the Nuremberg–Bayreuth–Cheb railway line. The vacation rental is located on the top floor of the residential building in a quiet and green residential area. The town has bus and train connections. The nearest towns are Creußen (5 km), Pegnitz (11 km), and Bayreuth (18 km). Creußen is the seat of the administrative community. It features a small historic district on the hill, three supermarkets, a pharmacy, and a gas station. Pegnitz has a hospital, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sauna, an ice rink, sports facilities, and various shopping centers. Pegnitz has a small, charming old town and various restaurants. Bayreuth is accessible via the federal highway in about 20 minutes by car or by train every two hours, and offers art, culture, parks, and an interesting old town. The village of Schnabelwaid has a butcher and a bakery. There is a bus and train stop. The village features an old moated castle, a beautiful village fountain, a Catholic church, and a lovely old Protestant church, as well as a country inn serving excellent regional cuisine. The region has a very well-developed network of bike paths, making it entirely possible to cycle to Pegnitz or Bayreuth. A unique geographical feature in the entire region is the Craimoosweiher biotope, located about 2 km from Schnabelwaid. The Craimoosweiher—a breeding ground for Upper Franconia’s only black-headed gull colony and many other waterfowl—is the largest pond in the Bayreuth district, covering nearly 15 hectares. South of Schnabelwaid lies one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Upper Franconia. Schnabelwaid is an ideal starting point for exploring Franconian Switzerland and the Fichtel Mountains. There are 15 themed hiking trails around Schnabelwaid, ranging in length from 4 to 32 km.
