The region offers a wealth of attractions, including mountain railroads, museums, spectacular waterfalls, and gorges. Notable nearby sites include:



- Giesbach Waterfalls (Driving: 21.0 km): A breathtaking natural wonder with scenic hiking trails.

- Schwarzwaldalp (Driving: 9.6 km): A delightful mountain village with hiking trails and traditional Swiss cuisine.



This small apartment features an entrance hall with a laundry room, a bathroom, and a living room, making it a perfect getaway for couples or solo travelers. How you sleep is very important, so it was essential for us to be able to offer a comfortable bed of the highest quality. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere both in winter and summer, making it an ideal retreat year-round.



Guest Access:

It’s best to arrive by car. No public transport. You use the studio alone and the two terraces belong only to the studio. One is right in front of the building and the other 25m² terrace is to the right of the studio and has a large table, chairs and a BBQ grill.



The Neighborhood:

The place is remote and in the middle of nature. There is a small farm next door with a few cows. Otherwise, the village consists of around ten traditional Swiss wooden houses. The view of the mountain panorama, but also of the Haslital with the tourist village of Meirinigen where the Aare meanders through, is wonderful. However, you should arrive by car, as the nearest bus stop is 2 km away. In addition, the nearest store in Meiringen is about 10-15 minutes away by car! In winter there is sometimes a lot of snow and you should have 4x4s or snow chains.



The Chaltenbrunnen moor nearby is the best preserved moor area in Switzerland. The famous Reichenbach Falls, where Sherlock Holmes' fictional battle with his adversary took place, is also about a 2km walk away. The village is nestled on a high plateau where you have a spectacular view of Meiringen and the Haslital as well as the mountain panorama. There are various beautiful hiking trails and secluded spots in the countryside around the house. A 10-minute drive by car and you are in the Rosenlaui Gorge or the Aaren Gorge.

Getting Around:

The address is Falchern 266, 3860 Schattenhalb.



The apartment is accessible by car in summer and winter. When there is snow (possible between November and March), however, only with a 4x4 vehicle or snow chains.



By public transport you have to take the post bus from Meiringen to the stop “Zwirgi” and then walk about 2 km to Falchern.



A cab from Meiringen train station costs around CHF 40 to Falchern.
