The town of Saxmundham, perfectly positioned for discovering the best of Suffolk, has a long history going right back to the Doomsday Book, and was once on the Coach and horses’ route from London to the coast. Many of the buildings in the ‘old town’ of Saxmundham are from the Georgian period as a result. Today, Saxmundham is a lively and characterful town, with independent shops, Art galleries, cafes and bars. The whole region is a haven for ‘foodies’, and in town you will find a traditional butcher and Artisan bakery, plus the local supermarket - all ideal for stocking up on local produce and other tasty treats.
