Disappointing
Our stay was most disappointing. This is an old house that has been neglected. The back-yard is unsightly. What was once a lawn is now a dirt bowl. Flowerpots are empty and the fence is in an uneven state of repair/disrepair.
But the worst part is what did not work:
• Both toilets backed up and continued to back up after a plumber came. Plumbing needs some major work.
• The air conditioning failed (began to work after an A/C technician came). Three nights with no air conditioning.
• Two of the three lights outside were burnt out when we arrived. Several burnt out inside while we were there.
• The dishwasher works sometimes, and not other times.
We were there for 12 days, and three of them were wasted (25%) as we had to wait while tradesmen came to repair. Our son and his wife came for three days as we arrived. We were humiliated to have them see what we had rented. We chose this area because we have several friends that vacation there. We did not dare to invite them to our house.
The owners (Vanessa and JP) were frustrated with the events and reacted quickly. As all this took place, they volunteered that they would make some accommodation for all the problems. However, as the end of our rental period approached, they grew silent. We reminded them once, but they said they had to check with VRBO, and we have not heard from them since.
On the positive side, the location is handy to shopping and recreation, the house is roomy, the kitchen is well equipped, and the beds are fine.
We are looking for house for next year, but we will not be returning to this one.
