Storybook Beach House 2 blocks from the Beach or Mission Bay with Pool & Hot tub

Plan the perfect family reunion or getaway in this one-of-a-kind 2,800 sq ft. historic home. Built in 1927 by the famous Scripps family in the unique "storybook" style; the home has been remodeled with the latest features to enhance its old world charm. This large house features an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, 5 separate bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and loads of outdoor patio space, providing the ideal mix for both quiet relaxing and fun social time. During the summer season, rentals run from Saturday to Saturday.
Located in the heart of Pacific Beach (PB) San Diego's premier beach destination, the location can't be beat. Pack your wagon with surf and sand toys and head west for 2 blocks to the Pacific Ocean. Or, switch gears and head south 2 blocks to Mission Bay for a leisurely bike ride or to read a book on the sand. Forget something at the store? Ralph's supermarket is a 5 min. walk away, as are a wide variety of restaurants and shops for every taste.

This property is located in a quiet, single family neighborhood.
The owner lives on-site in an adjacent apartment. We only rent to responsible groups, primarily families. This is not a "party house".

Individuals under 30 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
NO SMOKING AND NO PETS.
Check in 4:00 pm on date of arrival and check out is 10:00 am on date of departure unless other arrangements are made with owner.

If your looking for an idealic stay in San Diego with easy access to the beach or Mission Bay, then look no further. The Storybook House pictures accurately represent what you'll experience with plenty of comfortable beds and linens for our 9 adults and 2 children. This clean, charming home is well maintained by its owner/host who lives adjacent, cares about your rental experience and will quickly help resolve any issues that may arise. The kids pool, hot tub and pool table were all big hits and the availability of bikes and beach accessories was also appreciated. This will definitely be the place we chose to stay in the next time we visit San Diego.

This home is very conveniently located walking distance to beach, back bay, grocery store and many restaurants/bars in PB. The house is well equipped, spacious and provides a great atmosphere for socializing in small and large groups. We enjoyed the rooftop spa and great sunsets from the roof deck.Ryan is terrific to communicate with and very accommodating. We also enjoyed the 6 beach cruisers to experience the beach boardwalk. I’d definitely stay again.

This house was great and worked perfectly for my family of 10. The neighborhood was lovely and within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. My family took full advantage of the bicycles as well as the pool and hot tub. The owner/manager was right next door and available whenever we had a question or needed anything. I would highly recommend this home.

This is the perfect home for a large group. We had 10 adults and there was plenty of rooms, bathrooms, and spaces to socialize. Sitting in/around the pool was wonderful during the day and the rooftop deck and hot tub was amazing at night. The pool table was also a lot of fun. It was a short easy walk down to the beach or bay with lots of eating choices and the grocery store within walking distance. There were 6 bikes, wagons, beach chairs, boogie boards, and sand toys there for our use as well as plenty of beach towels. The 2 parking spaces provided was so convenient since the street remains very full during the weekend. Ryan, the host, was very responsive and kind. I would definitely stay at the Storybook House again for a group gathering.

The location of the house was absolutely fabulous! It was an old English Tudor-style house that I loved. The grandkids, on the other hand, thought it was just old, but they loved the pool and the hot tub on the rooftop! It was easily walkable to the beach and restaurants. The host, was nice and available when needed. We had a great time there!

Our favorite SD house!

We love this house so much, it was our second time staying. The location is perfect and the charm of this house is everything. The backyard is surrounded by lush plants and is the perfect hangout after a long morning at the beach. Will be back again next year!

June 2025 Storybook Beach House

We had a wonderful stay at Storybook Beach House. We were with my small family and a friend. We have extended family in the area who came by to visit and we had a small graduation party. Ryan was so friendly and we really appreciated being able to celebrate my daughter’s graduation with friends and family away from home. The house is lovely and relaxing. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Graduation Weekend

Our daughter graduated from USD and we stayed at this beautiful story book home! It was the perfect home with so much character and charm. Ryan was an amazing host, very attentive with quick responses. Would recommend this home for sure!!

Family-friendly and great location

The house was spacious with plenty of amenities for our guests of all ages (4-66!) to enjoy. We especially liked the large kitchen and the outdoor patio area with small pool. The beach is truly just a couple blocks away and was an easy walk, even with small kids in tow. Lots of places to get groceries or eat out nearby. We would stay here again!

Amazing!

Our stay at this property was amazing.The house is very well decorated and super charming inside and out. The owner is very nice and responsive. We had a wonderful time with our extended family and small children. Rooftop jacuzzi was wonderful!

Wonderful House for a large family group.

Three generations including four children 7 years and under stayed together. The house accommodated all of us in comfort. The kitchen was well equipped allowing us to cook substantive meals. The bedrooms were well furnished and the three and a half baths were very convenient. The living and dining areas were pleasant with some interesting decorative touches. The pool is not deep but perfect for our group and the rooftop hot tub was a nightly attraction. The garden area was attractive with a large border of Birds of Paradise plants. The house was clean and fully ready for us to enjoy.Ryan was an excellent host and always responded quickly and helpfully. I would highly recommend this lovely old house for any larger group.

Group of friends visiting San Diego

Ryan was a wonderful host—very prompt with responses and helpful with questions. The home has old storybook charm, which didn't impact the stay but rather enhanced the experience. The location, with its proximity to the beach, shops, restaurants, and grocery store, was perfect and easily walkable. The rooftop hot tub provided a great area to relax and watch the sunset. The location was perfect for easily visiting areas in and around San Diego.

Fantastic!

Our family celebrated my husband's 90th birthday at the Storybook Beach House and it could not have been more perfect. The house was fabulous, fun and in the perfect location for all of us to walk to the beach, grocery store and wonderful restaurants. The owner of the house was extremely accommodating, helpful, and thoughtful. The house was charming, intriguing and very well supplied with everything we needed. All-in-all the perfect house for us.
