Fellow travelers, I want to share the challenges and concerns we faced during our stay at this property, which ultimately led us to leave midway through.
1. Safety Concerns: Upon checking in, we were informed to lock our doors due to local crime concerns, which were compared to crime levels in Chicago. While we thankfully did not experience any criminal activity, the fact that the house is situated on a main thoroughfare, with ground-floor windows and no alarm system code provided, left us feeling uneasy.
2. Unreliable Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi was slow and unreliable, completely cutting out during our stay. We were also unable to get any cellular service with AT&T, Mint Mobile, or Verizon.
3. Accessibility Issues: The home is not ideal for anyone with mobility concerns. The stairs leading to the summer kitchen were particularly steep and dangerous, posing a risk even for those without mobility issues.
4. Overall Condition: The house felt as though it had been neglected, akin to visiting a long-lost relative's home with a somewhat Dickensian musty atmosphere. The pool and grounds seemed like an afterthought.
5. Possible Paranormal Activity: Although we are skeptics, one family member claims to have seen a tall, dark figure in a top hat in the hallway, while another claimed to have a feeling that someone was watching her.
I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to mention these potential pitfalls for future travelers.
