The Gables - Stunning Waterfront Apartment

The Gables Waterfront Apartment is housed in a lovingly restored historic building on the Russell foreshore. Built on whalebone foundations by Joseph England, a shoemaker in 1847, its pitsawn kauri walls could tell a hundred stories.

The luxuriously appointed apartment is 2 storied, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There are views of the bay to Waitangi and Paihia. Glorious sunsets, yachting, fishing and boat activity, plunging gannets and the occasional dolphin are just a few reasons to enjoy the historic township of Russell.

The apartment has its own private courtyard entrance.

The large loft master bedroom enjoys beautiful views from the kingsize bed and the second bedroom features an original brick chimney feature with a Super King bed that can be converted to two singles upon request.

Fully furnished with modern appliances, the well equipped kitchen would please any keen chef eager to experiment with the wonderful local seafood and produce. The Gables Restaurant is No 1 on Trip Advisor for Northland and provides superb dining at your doorstep! Bookings are strongly recommended to ensure you savour a wonderful experience – you won't want to miss out…

Special conditions:
For your comfort the apartment is pet free and is a non-smoking property. The apartment is not suitable for children under the age of 10 years.

All Linen is included; As a rule two guests will have access to the Master bedroom with the second remaining unmade (an extra linen fee may apply for use of the second bedroom). 3-4 guests will have both bedrooms made up.

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to tidy the house and do the dishes before you leave;

Should you be unable to travel for your confirmed booking due to a Covid-19 level change we will happily rebook your dates to a suitable time in the future at no extra charge and can do so as many times as needed

Set above the gables restaurant, the place is on the strand with unbeatable ocean view.The only downside is noise from the gables when they play music below. Didn’t worry us, but some others might not like that. Place was clean, with tons of character.

We had 2 couples stay for a wedding at the duke. We loved the location. The apartment was clean and walking distance to restaurants and shopsIt had a nice homely feel to the place and was really well stocked in the kitchen— we would happily stay again.

It is a special accommodation in so many ways, spacious luxury, absolutely premium location and you have a balcony right over the strand and the oldest continuous operating restaurant in New Zealand!!

This accommodation speaks cleanliness and space! It is well located to easily access the amenities of Russell. The restaurant/pub below is non-intrusive. The patio doors and balcony enable fresh air and entertainment while watching the activities taking place below it. The ratu tree directly outside the patio doors limits the view across the bay but at the same time adds beauty to this artistically inspired space.

A delightful and spacious property in a perfect location yards from the sea. The bustle of Russell transformed to perfect tranquility around 22:00 leaving only the sound of the waves lapping on the beach outside. The property was well equipped with everything we needed for a restful break.

Great property in the centre of town. Loved the out look and loads of lovely restaurants a stones thrown away. Only slight negative for us was music from downsairs restaurant played from 11am to closing which I guess when staying in town is to be expected. Beautiful property 👌 Thank u

A fantastic property right in the heart of historic Russell. We felt instantly at home … relaxing, stylish, warm & comfortable. Well equipped kitchen & spacious enough for two couples to enjoy. We dined at The Gables Restaurant (right underneath the apartment) & Hones Garden (right behind the property). Hardly any need for a car as everything is a walk away. Thoroughly enjoyed … thank you!

A beautiful historical building with original windows and a modern kitchen. During our stay the Gables restaurant was being refurbished so there was some construction noise coming up through on the main level, though the master bedroom on the top floor was quiet. Good communication with the host. Very central location in the heart of Russell. We could walk to everything we required during our stay.
