This is a beautiful hotel, in an absolutely amazing area. Most of the staff are incredible. My room was clean, breakfast was good, and I am generally happy with my stay.
BUT:
I walk with a cane. Before I booked this hotel I emailed them and specifically asked whether the elevator went from ground level to all floors of the hotel. I was told yes. This was a lie. There is a small flight of stairs from ground level to the elevator entry.
I booked (and paid for) a room with a balcony. On arrival I was told that I had not, that the balcony room was not available, and that they had decided to “upgrade” me to a suite because I was staying so long. The suite had 2 flights of stairs and was totally unsuitable. I was stuck with a noisy room next to reception.
On check out, the clerk attempted to charge me for 15 nights of city tax, when the maximum the city charges is 10 nights. I refused to pay it, and gave only the required 10 night payment, but someone who had never been to Rome before would have been out of pocket an extra 30 euros.
I will not stay at this hotel again.
