My husband and I stayed at Hotel 87 during our honeymoon in Rome, as we had previously stayed here several times and always enjoyed the property. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing.
At check-in, we later realized we had accidentally booked a room in the annex building, which is a few minutes’ walk from the main hotel. When we brought our concerns to the front desk, the staff member named Red was extremely rude and dismissive. He spoke to us disrespectfully and even rolled his eyes during the conversation.
On our third night, our room was not cleaned. We left the room at 4:00 pm and specifically informed the housekeeping staff that they could service it. When we returned at 5:00 pm, the room had still not been cleaned. I went to the front desk to ask about this, and once again Red was dismissive and aggressive in his tone. He accused us of lying about leaving the room, which was both upsetting and unprofessional.
The interaction became very heated, and I ultimately checked out early, leaving in tears. This experience was especially disappointing given that this was our honeymoon and that we had been loyal returning guests.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel.
