Castel Gandolfo is known for the presence of the summer residence of the Popes. The Holy Father was a guest from July to September.
The many other summer residences, villas and bungalows built in the seventeenth century, Castel Gandolfo make one of the most famous resort in Lazio.

There are also several sites of archaeological interest, including examples are the 'Emissary of Lake Albano and the remains of the Villa of Domitian, as well as natural, since the area is included in the scope of the Regional Park of the Castelli Romani.

Finally, there are interesting sights, such as the Collegiate Church of St. Thomas of Villanova, built by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Great place in the heart of the town.

A real gem of a place to stay in the very heart of the small town. The host was fantastic and you have some great restaurants right on your doorstop. The view from the balcony is exactly like the photo. We know the area well but for anyone outside I would recommend a car is needed to get around.

Wonderful location, the lake view is breathtaking

We had a wonderful time at Castel Gandolfo! The train connection with Rome is great, so a car is not needed. Castel Gandolfo is a friendly, nice place to stay, with enough shops for your groceries. The lake is perfect for swimming, canoeing or water cycling. The owner of the apartment is charming and helpfull and the apartment itself has everything you want for your holidays, most of all a huge terrace with the sensational view of the beautiful lake! Traumhafte Altstadtwohnung mit grandioser Terrasse

Wir fanden eine typische Altstadtwohnung, top renoviert mit einer traumhaften Terrasse vor. Die Terrasse liegt in direkter Nähe des besten Aussichtspunktes des Ortes auf den See. Die Wohnung liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe zum zentralen Platz mit Cafe. Wir (2 Erwachsene und 3 Kinder) konnten uns auch ohne Auto mit allen Lebensmitteln aus dem Ort versorgen. Der Vermieter war supernett und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt. Viele Grüße Ruth und Kurt

Fantastic position, incredible lake view

We had a very happy few days in this apartment. The view from the large terrace over Lake Albano is sensational. The apartment is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The family owning the apartment were very kind & helpful & made us feel very welcome. We had a wonderful stay here & strongly recommend Casa Lucia.

Stunning location and very comfortable flat

We had a wonderful time in this flat where we found all we needed. The terrace overlooking the lake is amazing , definitely the best view you can get in town and the location is just few steps from the main square and the main shops . The place exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it for a relaxing holiday . Many thanks to Giovanni who was extremely welcoming and kindly picked us and drove us back to the airport. David and Verina

Wonderful apartment and location!

We had a lovely time at this wonderful apartment and hope very much to return. The accommodation is beautifully renovated and contains everything necessary for a holiday. The terrace has the most wonderful view. You can walk to the nearby bars and shops in seconds. Railway station is also close by. 20 minutes walk brings you to the lake and small beaches. The owners were very accommodating with answering questions and meeting us, etc. This place more than exceeded my expectations and was a great respite after a few hectic days in Rome.

Casa Lucia a Castelgandolfo

My friend and I enjoyed a truly wonderful holiday in this quiet, beautifully situated apartment where we had everything we needed. The welcome we received from the owner and family was magnificent and they gave us every help possible to make our holiday really memorable. After an exhausting day's sightseeing in Rome it was so relaxing to return to the apartment and sit on the terrace with a cool drink to admire the fantastic view across the lake. We got plenty of useful advice from the owners on where best to eat out or obtain provisions from the local shops. Please note that anyone intending to travel from Castelgandolfo by train to Rome etc should buy their train tickets in the local tobacconists before going down the steep path to the station as they cannot be obtained in the station itself. I would be very pleased to recommend this apartment for its convenience, peacefulness, panorama and especially the warmth of welcome from the owners. A big thank you to Giovanni for taking us to the airport at the end of our stay.

Rez-de-chaussée avec gran...

Rez-de-chaussée avec grande terrasse d'où nous avons vue sur le lac, bien aménagé, très propre et super équipé, ce logement est idéal pour un séjour dans la région très riche en sites à visiter. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'accueil du propriétaire. Il est disponible et discret dans ses attentions. Comme la région nous a beaucoup plu, nous y reviendrons certainement, en espérant cette fois encore, occuper ce logement.

Casa Lucia est un apparte...

Casa Lucia est un appartement en rez de chaussée d’une maison du vieux village de Castel Gandolfo, située à 100m de l’entrée de la résidence d’été du Pape et à 30m de la Piazza Libertà. La grande terrasse de cet appartement surplombe le Lac d’Albano grâce au dénivelé et offre un spectacle extraordinaire à toute heure avec Rocca di Papa juste en face. L’appartement est bien équipée et confortable, très silencieux malgré sa position au centre du village : la salle de bain est design et la cuisine moderne contient absolument tout y compris un lave vaisselle (rare en Italie). Poutres apparentes aux plafonds de cette bâtisse ancienne mais complètement rénovée avec goût et fonctionnelle. Giovanni, le propriétaire, est extrêmement gentil et réactif au moindre problème, toujours prêt à aider et toujours avec le sourire. Il est très soucieux du bien être de ses hôtes, tout en respectant leur privacy. La position de ce logement à l’accès très facile permet de se rendre à Rome avec le train de Castel Gandolfo ou bien avec le métro situé à Anagnina (15mn de voiture). La Région des Castelli Romani est aussi à découvrir, riche en histoire et en paysages magnifiques par la présence des 2 lacs d’Albano et de Nemi , de montagnes avec la mer qui n’est pas loin. Nous rentrons à Paris avec regret et souhaitons revenir le plus vite possible à Casa Lucia ! Un grand merci à Giovanni !
