Waking up to this view after a foggy night camping in Gothic Basin
Gothic Basin is a great backpacking hike or long day hike. Off the Mountain Loop Highway near Barlow Pass, it is a great way to scope out all the peaks in the area.
True to it's name, the water of Blanca Lake is a bright icy-teal color that is surreal to witness in person. Silt from melting glaciers around the lake gives it this vibrant color and, if you are brave enough to go for a frigid swim, your body becomes virtually invisible under the surface.
