They are following the original plans that Thomas Jefferson created with the help of actual letters that were written to Jefferson’s head contractor at the time the house was being built. It’s going to be beautiful! Sad it’s not the original interior. But has a very interesting story! It $13/pp to tour but worth it!

Wonderful views off the mountain on all sides, with a nice 1.5 mile hike!
This was at one time considered the highest point in Virginia. This landmark mountain is located off the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Peaks of Otter Lodge and Campground. 1.5 mile to the top from the Visitor's Center with a 1300' elevation good.

We traveled and camped in both the Smokey's and Shenandoah National Parks. Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park is at the ridge with many amazing vistas. Camping in the National Parks on 100 Anniversary of the creation of the National Parks was very exciting. We met a lot of great people as well as exchanged stories about out travels and volunteering in the NP.
