Host was awful and ruined the entire experience
The host was a liar and treated his staff terribly. He was rude, he kept showing up and arguing with us and bringing his family to the villa. He was unprofessional and it was a disgrace to see how he treated everyone who worked there. They tried to charge my guests to pay bills after every meal and would only take cash. Very unprofessional. For a place that is so expensive, they should be running things like a proper resort or be transparent with the ridiculous way they expect guests to pay for things. After every meal, drink, grocery run, etc. Tabs are not allowed if you plan to stay here, be prepared and bring lots of cash. At one point the host agreed to charge for all services for the remaining of the stay, I paid him - when we were getting ready to leave, he told me he wasn't going to pay the chef even though I had already paid him for the services. He told me if I didn't pay the chef AGAIN in cash, he would not provide him with any payment. He told us that we would be the reason he made no money for his family. We ended up paying cash to the chef as well, so this host scammed us for additional fees. I would not recommend staying here.

Absolutely wonderful!!!!
Perfection! Excellent! Amazing! Casa Alma was all of those things and more! We had the time of our lives! Our group consisted of 7 couples, 14 total, for my 50th bday. I have so much to say and not enough room, so I’ll Cliff Note it based on what I wanted to know before we arrived. First, it’s super safe. It’s an easy 24 minute ride from the airport (book a van through Victoria at Solmar, she’s awesome). It’s in an awesome gated neighborhood, with two all-inclusive resorts on either side. Casa Alma is EXACTLY like the pics, add wonderful ocean breezes. All 7 bedrooms have en suite baths, there are no bad rooms. The pool/pavilion area is where we spent 95% of our time and couldn’t have enjoyed it more. Make pizzas in the pizza oven! Ray, the butler/man who knows all, is super friendly and helps with everything! There are 2 super sweet housekeepers who tidy all rooms, do dishes, provide fresh towels each day, etc. Must book Willie, the chef, at least one night. Amazing food and sauces. Casa Alma is your own, super safe, super luxurious, super fun private resort. 100% recommend! Solmar Rentals is excellent to work with too. Very, very happy we chose this place!!!!!

Great Vacation for Large Groups
I had my 30th birthday here with 22 friends. Upon arrival, the house looked exactly as it did in the photos. The house staff went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. Chef Willie and his team made incredible meals everyday, I highly recommend using the chef service. We had a few delays with transportation to and from the property, however it always worked out. Overall it was an amazing vacation and I will definitely use Solmar rentals again in the future.

Best vacation ever
We had 3 families with a total of 18 people. Ages 3 to 44. We stayed for 7 nights and no one wanted to leave when our time ended. This house is great for big groups, very spacious. The pictures don’t do it justice. Most homes don’t look as good as the photos but this one looked better. The staff goes above and beyond to make you comfortable. The chef and butler were both amazing. Food was fresh and delicious at every meal. We had fresh towels and a clean space every morning when we got up. They made a fire in the fire pit for us every night after dinner. They would take our dirty clothes at night and bring them back washed and folded each morning. This was not a cheap vacation but worth every penny. Thank you!!!!

The chef made the trip
The property was great overall. The cons: We were their first guests so there were definitely some kinks that needed to be worked out. The property was not completely finished and some construction work needed to be done. The outdoor kitchen wasn’t complete or the fire pit (although the fire pit was not in the listing when I reserved it, not sure who the other person that reviewed this property is, but seems fishy). I’m sure it will be amazing once it’s done! Wi-Fi was only available in the common areas, people came to work on that while we were there, but I didn’t notice any change. There was also no hot water anywhere hopefully that has been fixed. There was so much seaweed we couldn’t get in the water at all. I know it’s hard to control the seaweed, but the house next door beach was way cleaner. So many mosquitoes, even using bug spray, we all had a lot of bites. There also needs to be a better payment system for the food, drinks, and grocery shopping. We were just handed receipts throughout the week to be paid in cash. Nobody in our party had that much to pay them in cash, ATM fees are expensive and we had to hire a driver multiple times to go get cash for the food. The pros: the chef Jorge was just absolutely fabulous! To say that he kept us well fed is an understatement. Fresh fruits, soups, fish and so much more!!! Everything was just fantastic. The butler Ry worked really hard around the property. The pool area with palapa was great, we spent a lot of time out there.

Once in a lifetime
I stayed just for 3 nights but I wish it never ended!! The villa is incredible, when they told me that it was like being on a private island I thought they were just exaggerating but definitely not! This place is magical, I loved everything! The huuuge pool, the beach, the fire pit by the beach, the jacuzzi, the beach beds, they even have this wooden gateway that is amazing for photos! I truly felt like I was on my own resort, with all the space and amenities included at the villa. The service is unbeatable. They helped us book a chef & a bartender for all our stay (which was a total hit with the margaritas and the taco buffet!). Talk about spoiled and pampered!! We also booked a yacht to go snorkeling to Isla mujeres and my group had so much fun, the crew was amazing and catered to our every need. They arranged our tours to xcaret and our transportation to visit the city which was super helpful because we were a big group. As I’m writing this, I’m just dreaming about going back. Solmar Rentals team are the best hosts we ever had and this villa is something else. I can imagine having a wedding or big event at this villa, can fit 100+ people easy. It was the best vacation me and my family have ever had!! Thank you guys so much for everything!
