This is our families second stay here. The shared space gave us a great area to gather together but the individual bedrooms allowed everyone their own when needed. The pool is gorgeous and we were able to bird watch while sitting by the pool.

I stayed at this house for 8 nights with 5 other friends, for a big birthday trip. It was wonderful! Much of the house is open air, so you always have a view of the pool and can hear the birds and howler monkeys in the distance. The bedrooms are separate and air conditioned. The kitchen was well appointed and the beds were comfortable. We saw monkeys and toucans from the yard. We also thoroughly enjoyed the pool and its slide. The house is near several great restaurants and is a six minute walk to the beach (down a hill). David, the owner, was incredibly helpful and patient. He also owns Samara Adventures and we went on several of their trips and always had a wonderful time. Highly recommended!

Eight of us spent a delightful week. We had the house and one of the two adjacent apartments. Outdoor living was great. AC in the sleeping areas was fine. The kitchen is well equipped. Pool was great, although there isn't a shallow end for little non-swimmers. Lots of floaties are provided. There is plenty of beach equipment. You can walk to the beach but the hill is steep. We mostly drove. The beach is great, not manicured white sand but large and uncrowded with great waves. Except for the howler monkeys who supplied a morning and evening chorus (so cool!), Carrillo is quiet and uncrowded. There are a couple of nice restaurants, one across the street and the other around the corner. Our host, David, arranged for a cook to come in and prepare supper for us on three evenings. Viviana was great! The midweek cleaning and linen change was a pleasant surprise. Everything was clean, comfortable, and worked properly. The host lives next door and took care of any question or issue promptly. We were delighted with our stay.

Great location for small study abroad group

The house was perfect for our small study abroad course (1 professor), 7 students. Everyone had their own bed but all but one student (and the professor) shared a room. The upstairs apartment has its own sitting area and kitchen too. Kitchen was great for breakfast and dinner so not having to eat out every meal saved us . Pool was clean and free Netflix for movies in the evening. The property manager David was super helpful getting activities organized after our course was done.

David is a very attentive host. Power outages/surges make for awkward use of bedrooms a/c needed for heat/humidity. The surge protector setup was finicky while ww stayed but David very responsive. Street noise is a problem for light sleepers as windows are noise porouswindows let all

Great Family Beach Accommodation

We were a family of 6 (retired couple with 2 sons and their wives). But this location would have easily accommodated younger children and more people with a couple of adjoining apartments. This home is in a great location just minutes from Playa Carrillo. We chose Playa Carrillo to avoid the holiday crowds (e.g. Tamarindo) closer to Liberia Airport, but still have access to surfing, snorkeling, zip line, deep sea fishing, horseback riding, etc. It was a great combination for us!The outdoor common area was spacious and comfortable, with the pool just steps away. The kitchen had all the accessories we were looking for. Also Beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, umbrella and a convenient cart for carrying them to the beach were provided. Walking distance to multiple local restaurants and convenience stores. Incredible sunsets on the beach, and easy access to restaurants and shopping in Sámara just 10 minutes away. Solar heated water was a little cool, but was refreshing for most of our group. We had originally planned to have 10 people, but 3 days before the trip, one family came down with Covid. The host offered to open up their apartment and see if he could get someone on very short notice. He was able to fill the apartment many of the nights and refunded us for these nights. He was incredibly thoughtful and accommodating!We will definitely consider staying here on our next trip to Puerto Carrillo!

Christmas Escape

Our family decided to runaway for Christmas and we found ourselves at the perfect spot. There was enough space for 4 teenagers and 6 adults to have some privacy and a lovely shared space. The pool and slide were a great hit. The hill to beach is a bit of a challenge but the ocean makes it worth it.

Beautiful home in a beautiful location

We looked for a large home for a family of 12 with 2 toddlers, 2 teenagers and 8 adults (4 couples). We had the main home and an apartment. It was such an unbelievable home and experience. David, the main point of contact, is extremely responsive. He helped us schedule shuttles, excursions and helped when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the safe. The main space is completely open, which is super nice on those 30 days but each room has a mini split to help yourself cool down when necessary. Each room also had a shower and toilet which is really nice when you have so many people.The kitchen is fully equipped. But I would recommend to anyone to use Vivianna, the chef that David connected us with. She cooked us 4 dinners and her fees were extremely reasonable (around 90 total for the 12 of us). The pool is great and it was cleaned twice during week our stay.The beach is about a 5 minute walk. It is a steep walk but if there are mobility issues and you need to drive there's plenty of parking at the beach. It is a great beach, way less busy or touristy then the beach over at Samara. We'd stay again in a heartbeat.

Great property in walking distance to the beach, a few restaurants, and stores, Samara is a short drive away. The pool is amazing. I would highly recommend.

A Great House for a Group

We stayed at David’s house a few years ago and loved it then; we still do. The house is well designed and the rooms are spacious, including the bedrooms. The pool is, as one of our party said “the best in the universe”. The house is well situated near grocery stores, restaurants, beautiful Carrillo beach and there are bus stops handy for travel to nearby towns. Lesdy and David responded quickly to every issue or inquiry and helped arrange various excursions for us. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Family Vacation

This was the perfect vacation house for our family of ten. We spent many happy hours in the spectacular pool. David and his staff were friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The location was ideal and within walking distance to the beautiful beach, restaurants, and grocery stores. We would recommend this vacation house to everyone!

You did not disappoint!

For our group, the house was perfect. We had a family of 4, two being less than 5. Two other couples, and 1 single in his 20s. This house had everything we needed. The owner was there with supplies when needed, and helped with all our excursions. We had a cook come one night which was delicious! The restaurant across the street was fantastic, and 2 close stores to shop. Yes, the walk to the beach is steep, but doable!! Thank you David for helping make this trip one of the best we have had to CR!!

Casa Ventana

Me and my fiancé stayed in this home for a month. We had the main home and the adjacent apartment as we had family and friends visit the entire time. As would any large home, it had its issues over the month, but David (property owner), lived right next door and would have it fixed within the hour. The quaint town of Puerto de Carrillo has everything you need within just a walk (grocery store is a 2 min walk, 8+ restaurants within a 5-8 min walk, beach within an 8 min walk) Amazing food and wonderful people on every corner. Wildlife was plentiful but not intrusive and very safe. By far what made this trip the life changing experience it was, was David and his family business. The own a shuttle company that can pick you up from any airport and shuttles to help get you around town if need be. They also broker and manage every excursion you could possibly want to do and David is simply a text message away. I've never had a more seamless experience while traveling and we'll miss this place dearly and hope to return in the future!!

this property has everything listed and more, David and his wife the host are awesome people which makes this place click. David helped us the first day when keys got locked in a bedroom and he responded at 645 am with a big smile, they make you fill like family not a customer. the other neighbors were very friendly as well. great restaurants real close within walking distance. great beaches close. we will be booking again thank you David

Stayed for a week

We loved our stay! The house was as described, pool was perfect, and there is a great outdoor shower for rinses after the beach. Property was very clean and well cared for. We had one glitch with AC and an electrician was on site immediately to get it back up and running. We took advantage of the beach chairs and umbrellas, and David our host made it very simple to book tours and ask questions etc. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance and 2 small grocery stores. The beach is a 1 minute drive down the hill with loads of parking and great waves to play in (not surf). All and all we loved it!

Perfect location

Loved this home and its location! Plenty of room for 10 of us…3 families which included 3 active 3-6 year olds and a sleepy 18 year old. The kitchen has absolutely every utensil/pan/bowl you will need to fix countless meals. The refrigerator is extra large which made it awesome since we stocked up on food in Nicoya on our way in from the airport. We also walked the 1-2 blocks to the two grocery stores in town which actually had a good selection of things we ran out of…and ice cream! 😍 The pool is awesome! The kids loved the slide. The bar stools at the far end were perfect for sitting on to keep cool and tan. The washer and dryer were a very large capacity, complete with detergent. The dishwasher was large too, and detergent was provided. A/C in bedrooms was perfect. Ceiling fans everywhere, too. The walk down to the most ideal beach in the world was a short one. The walk back up was short, but rather steep. However, by the third day we had gotten used to it. Boogie boards, beach chairs, a wagon, sand toys, are all provided. We loved our stay and hope to return in a couple of years. Definitely zip line with WingNuts…we did the adrenaline option this time. Go early morning. David, the home’s manager, is wonderful and can answer/help with everything you need or might want to do.

Amazing house

We loved every minute here. Such a wonderful place to relax. The pool was perfect and my kiddos loved the water slide. There were even floaters to use. Lots of lounge chairs. A great tv for watching YouTube or Netflix. David arranged fishing and horseback riding for us which were both awesome. He even showed us how to cook the tuna we caught. Kitchen was big and fully stocked and beds were all comfortable. It was a short walk or drive to the beach and there were lots of beach toys. Several restaurants and 2 markets close by. We just wished we could have stayed longer!!!!

Close to beach - great stay!

Unique & Authentic

We really enjoyed our stay at Puerto Carrillo. House & additional apartment were perfect for our family of 8. David, host, was easy to communicate with & he answered many questions. The proximity to the beautiful beach was misrepresented. It was a good hike down to the beach (more than 5 minutes) and it was rough coming back up the hill, especially if you were carrying any beach equipment. Fortunately our family loved the pool at the house so we spent leisure time there. Great restaurants nearby! Samara was easily accessible.

Great time in Costa Rica

We have never stayed in a place like this before. The open living was so fun and the secure & air conditioned bedrooms were great! I have not had the best experience with private pools in the past, but this one was amazing. It was hot & muggy so we spent a lot of time in the pool - kids loved the slide. The owner was great to work with & helped book our Catamaran Excursion, a chef prepared dinner at the house (very reasonable & yummy), and our Covid tests right at the house. Would definitely come back!!

Amazing quaint beach town villa

We loved staying at David’s property. Nothing but good to say about the house and our experience. For our family group, it was truly wonderful and welcoming. The hosts obviously went above and beyond to prepare the property as well as provide anything we could want or need. They also helped set up activities and were more than kind and accommodating. We will definitely be back to stay again as we loved the property, the nearby Carillo beach, and the surfing in Samara.
