This is the perfect home for those who like to relax at the end of the day, after exploring the city, drinking a Porto wine in the beautiful and exotic tropical garden!
The whole house opens on glass over the garden and the two small fish ponds, which is very pleasant even at night, as the garden is lit and heated on cold nights!

With an excellent location in the heart of Porto, set in the lush and exotic garden of a typical house of Porto from the end of the 19th century, this house allows you to enjoy a relaxing and refined atmosphere in the heart of the city.

The house consists of glazed spaces over the garden, with living room, bedroom with a comfortable double bed, kitchenette and bathroom, that through three sliding panels allows you to isolate the area of the livingroom where is the sofa bed for two persons (1, 45 x 2.05), making this space a second room independent of the dining area.
The silence and tranquility of these spaces are guaranteed by double glazing.

The house is only 40 m2 but is very well equipped and very comfortable.
In summer the house is always very fresh, hence it is not necessary to have air conditioning. And in winter it is well heated, making it very comfortable.

The kitchen is fully equipped, including vitro-ceramic hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, oven, grill, espresso machine, coffee machine, kettle, etc. And in the house there is also a washing machine and a vacuum cleaner, 26 ”LCD television and Wi-Fi connection.

We offer fresh fruits and Porto wine for consumption on arrival free.
On the floor above the house there is an ample glazing made of glass brick from the garage, which is for your exclusive use if you come by car.

The place was just as advertised and just close enough to downtown to walk but far enough away to be quiet like we had hoped. Very peaceful with lots of good restaurants nearby. Jorge was very helpful upon arrival explaining the area and what we needed to know about our stay.

The Garden House was a true oasis in Porto. Beautifully appointed and nicely designed looking over a lovely garden with water features and coi fish. Our host, Jorge, was so helpful in telling us where to and where to eat. A truce sanctuary!

This a beautiful place to stay in Porto. We spent 6 nights here. While we loved the city, but were so happy when we got back to our oasis. Gorge is kind and responsive. We could not have asked for a better start to our vacation in Portugal.

We had an excellent stay. Outstanding host who personally met with us when we checked in and offered terrific advice on restaurants, how to get around the city, bars, and so much more. Everything he suggested was top notch. There was everything we needed in the unit. Grocery store and bakery within less than few minutes walk. The place was so relaxing with the gentle sound of the water. I loved the fish. The location was ideal and having a place to park our car made it even easier. The only downside was a small bathroom, but that wouldn’t distract us from staying again.

Fremragende ophold

Vi er netop kommet hjem fra 8 fantastiske dage i Porto. Vi fandt vores bolig på VRBO og alt har fungeret. Vi har i hele forløbet modtaget en fremragende service fra udlejer - Manuela og Jorge. De har meget venligt hjulpet med oplevelser, restauranter og andre gode råd. Selve boligen er en oplevelse i sig selv. Ikke stor, men havde ALT hvad vi skulle bruge. Haven var fantastisk og huset lå meget centralt i et dejligt fredeligt kvarter. Alt var velholdt, pænt og rent og fungerede optimalt. Vi er 120% tilfredse og kan absolut anbefale denne bolig (og udlejer). TAK.

This place had it all!

We had an outstanding stay. This place has everything. You won’t be disappointed. Garden, patio, wine, fruit! Fully equipped kitchen including staples like oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. The bathroom was well stocked as well. Very comfortable! Thanks Manuela for all the great recommendations. We ate like kings and queens!

We loved this Garden Getaway

Garden House was a perfect place for our stay in Porto. It’s in a neighborhood with tree-lined streets just east of Porto city center. You can reach most things in the city center within a 10-15 minute walk and the riverfront area in about 20-30 minutes depending on the route you take. That said, there are plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes, and groceries near Garden House that we opted for when we wanted to stay close by. We loved walking right around the corner to a bakery called Chicana- they had the best brioche croissants.As for Garden House- the property provides a serene escape from the bustling tourist areas. The floor-to-ceiling windows make the space feel encapsulated in a rich garden with fish ponds. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, the comfortable sitting areas, and the house’s unique aesthetic and design. The hosts are incredibly kind people and gave us several recommendations of restaurants to try and things to see.

Porto Visit September 2024

Everything about our stay in this apartment met our expectations. The apartment is tastefully furnished, comfortable, safe and secure and well equipped. It is located in a quiet neighborhood and ideally positioned for exploring Porto. A nearby metro stop makes it easy to get around the city and Uber rides were easy to arrange and use. The host was friendly and very helpful suggesting things to do and places to see. We enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay with this host again.

An oasis during Porto visit

Jorge is an amazing host who went above and beyond to help us enjoy our time in Porto. I admired structural evidence of his experience as a professional architect in the renovated tiny house - it's small but feature packed. The decorations inside reflect his passion as restorer of classic items (cars, lamps, furniture). Open the doors and you'll step out to an oasis of tropical plants, trees, and water features. The place provides a special environment for mental and physical rest after a full day of exploring Porto! The house is within easy walking distance of the city center with many new and diverse restaurants nearby. You can tell that Jorge is proud of his city and he eagerly shared how to explore Porto. He marked up a paper map with a local's perspective on places we might like to visit, where to eat, and how to get there. That was really valuable to make the most of our time and energy while we were out and about. Lastly, the Garden House is full of amenities and clean - absurdly clean. The level of care and effort required to make that a repeated experience guest after guest is stunning and reflects the host's thoughtfulness for his guests. I will definitely return for future stays at the Garden House.

Wonderful Place

Manuela and Jorge are excellent hosts. They gave us the warmest welcome we have ever had at a VRBO with lots of information about what to do in Porto. Great location, easy walk into city centre and lots of places to eat and drink in the area. We would definitely return.

Amazing tranquility!

Jorge’s property is just perfect! Everything you need for a great stay. The patio area with coy ponds are so wonderful for a morning coffee. The kitchen is well equipped. The place is small but incredibly functional. Location is perfect- just a short walk to plenty of great restaurants. Easy 10-15 minute walk to historical Porto. Jorge was so helpful with directions and even restaurant reservations. We will return !

Perfect for short stay in Porto

The Garden House is a compact space where everything you could need has been thought of. It was comfortable and convenient for 2 people, and is visually pleasing both inside and out, with a sitting area in the walled-in garden and Koi ponds. The accommodations were spotlessly clean, and convenient to walking the historic district of Porto, the metro, groceries and the river. Jorge was a perfect host and kindly provided a few extras and also recommendations for restaurants and things to do. Highly recommend!

Le jardin est magnifique et la conception du logement très recherchée avec des détails très raffinés. (Le travail de l'architecte !). Unique Private accomodation

Location is good with many of the main sites within a 20 - 30 minute walk. Nice to have garage parking but we rarely took the car out. Bed was great, but furniture (chairs/couch) need to be replaced/updated. Shower is quite tight, so if you're a large person you're not going to enjoy that. SItting outside in your own private garden was a great way to end the day. Had problems with the washer, but there's a laundry mat within a block. Be sure to check out the cemetery just south west of the apartment - a beautiful, intriguing experience. Would be tight for more than one couple, but Jorge has a 3 bed accomodation in the same yard that I would suggest looking at.

Un Super accueil de Manuela , une location conforme à l annonce, avec sa petite terrasse. L appartement est très bien placé, proche du centre, pas besoin de voiture pour visiter Porto qui est une ville magnifique. Je recommande vivement cette location.

A Cozy Hidey-Hole

This place is a little quirky, in that you gain access by going through the garage and the apartment is actually located beneath the garage. But the owner/landlord is an architect so he has come up with a clever and efficient design which is cozy and quite accommodating. The photos in the listing show it off well. Comfortable bedding, thick towels for the shower, more hot water than you will need. Dish washer, full size refrigerator, clothes washer, and a towel warmer / drying rack. This is the only property of dozens we have stayed in that provides a can of shaving cream for those who require it. A real gem of a rental!
