  • In the'Périgord noir',2 kilometers awway from the centre of the medieval village of Belvès,classified among the most beautiful villages in France,and within 25 kms of Sarlat: a picturesque house,15th-19th century,with a swimming pool,in a large estate,with a private lane to the house.The house is detached,with a surface of 200 square meters,with a large sitting room,a second one with a piano, 4 bedrooms,a huge garden,2 terraces,2 bathrooms with a bath, a washing machine,a dish washer,a barbecue,numerous games for the children,(a swing,a hut),cartoons,books,cards...). The place offers numerous possibilities for hiking and excursions.The shops are within walking distance(20 minutes'walk).The private swimming pool can be used from mid May to mid October.

Beautiful old house

This is a very old beautiful house. The location is rural with lovely views, it's so peaceful and relaxing. It's a very short drive or about 20mins walk into the beautiful town of Belves. Me family particularly enjoyed the two friendly dogs visiting from the farm opposite. The hosts were readily available to answer any questions we had.

Belle et confortable maison dans un magnifique endroit

Très belle maison, grande et très confortable - authentique et beaucoup de charme. On s’y sent tout de suite très bien. La vue est juste incroyable. La proximité de Belves, très beau village, très animé est un gros atout. De plus le propriétaire et la personne qui s’occupent de la maison sont très attentionnés. C’était un séjour parfait.

A lovely location

A lovely peaceful spot but only 5 minutes from Belves, a fabulous little town. Daily visits by two friendly dogs from the hamlet! A little cool for the pool but still much warmer than the UK! Great communication from the owner.

Fabulous Belves

We have been travelling around Southern France for a while & stopped at Belves, to reconnect with family & friends. What a great place this house is enough space for everyone to do their own thing but also cosy. Beautiful countryside & lovely walks if not swimming everyday in the pool. The only downside was some of the sun beds were damaged & no umbrella's by the pool either.

Grande bâtisse, très calme, bonne literie, nous avons très bien dormi. Une bâche sur la piscine serait bienvenue, elle était assez froide, et pourtant, nous ne sommes pas frileux. À savoir, le chien des voisins est assez invasif. Il est adorable et quémande que des caresses

Perfect family stay

The setting and location of the house are both excellent. We loved the view out of the back of the house over the valley; the early morning mist was atmospheric and the black night sky sprinkled with stars was spectacular. The house itself is perfect for our family group as the young family with baby effectively had their own area downstairs so the old(er) ones had the quiet of upstairs. The baby loved the 'baby cows' that she could see in the field as well as the two very friendly dogs that visited. We all enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider another one. Many thanks.

Location & Character

Charming older property with lots of character. Excellently located within walking distance of Belves, so one doesn't have to drive everywhere (handy after a good, long lunch,,), though very peaceful and quiet with a lovely open view at the back. It would have been useful to have had a least one other teatowel and a couple of handtowes for the bathrooms and kitchen. The recent decoration in the rear rooms were welcome as was the addition of the extra room which was a relaxing place to sit when the weather wasn't very good. The neighbours were very friendly and approachable and were keen for us to enjoy our stay. We had a couple of minor problems during our stay but they were promptly dealt with which was very much appreciated. We have stayed at this property four times in the last 10 years and have enjoyed each one.

Prachtige locatie, mooi uitzicht, mooi zwembad, huis charmant, maar wat verouderd qua inrichting

Heel mooi gelegen en charmant huis, maar qua schoonmaak en sleetsheid van de inrichting en spullen mag het wel beter. Oude wollen dekens om onder te slapen had ik lang niet meegemaakt. Keuken en uitrusting oud en sleets. Mooi zwembad wat helaas na een paar koudere dagen in mei te koud was om in te zwemmen. Prachtige omgeving met mooie plaatsjes, de rivier de Dordogne vlakbij en veel mogelijkheden om te wandelen,

Lovely and peacefull holiday

We had a wonderfull stay in this old house. The building requires some modernisation but it has a lot of charm and is very spacious. The swimming pool was a bit cold for our baby of 15 month’s but we really enjoyed it. We stayed for two weeks but we wanted to stay longer. It was wonderfull! Nico, Nathalie & Otilia

Séjour au calme dans un environnement très agréable

Nous avons passé une semaine très agréable dans la propriété. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié la terrasse ombragée, la piscine et sa vue dégagée, les conseils et précisions donnés par le propriétaire avant notre arrivée (accès, détails pratiques sur la maison, activités aux alentours), et l'attention du propriétaire et des voisins en charge de la maison. Tout cela dans une superbe région où les activités (patrimoine, balades, sport, gastronomie) ne manquent pas !

A lovely home from home

This holiday was an opportunity for the family to get together, so we had three couples, plus baby and a dog. The property was ideally suited to our needs and we had a fantastic week. Accommodation is arranged on 2 floors and it was possible to give the couple with a baby a separate wing of their own. The house is charming and has the feel of a genuine family home, possibly going back generations, which really helped us settle in. Whether it was a barbeque on the rear terrace overlooking the swimming pool and across the valley, or breakfast on the front terrace in the morning sun. Although we did not stray far, the local area was perfect for short walks or wandering around local villages. Indeed, the night market in Belves was a particular highlight and is much recommended. Be aware that there is a dairy farm fairly close by. This does not cause any problem from the perspective of either noise or smell, and we found it charming to wake up and find a herd of chestnut coloured cows about 40-50 yards from the swimming pool (behind a fence). However, if your dog is not well-behaved, you may find this a distraction. All in all, much recommended and we are considering visiting again in a few years time.

'Can we live in France Mummy?'

For our rag tag bunch of travellers and dog - a mix of two families joined together by a common grandchild - the space and location were fabulous. Being able to walk/cycle into Belves (a friendly and delightful town) was a real bonus. The house itself is also central to a huge range of places of interest and beauty a short drive away. We spent many happy hours lazing by the well-appointed pool (a couple of umbrellas would be a super-duper addition) and eating leisurely on the charming terrace, directly outside the kitchen. The house itself has a rustic charm; I delighted in the art work, especially all the glorious posters from my birth year! If anything, the interior just needs a little 'cuddle', nothing more than a day of freshening up. But, please keep in mind I am a bit weird and cleaned all the kitchen drawers out and reorganised them; it’s all about perspective and mine may be a bit off kilter! Overal; romance in the bucketload, breath taking views, golden light through the vines at breakfast, glorious light and shade, the south west of France on a stick! P.S Rowan (4.5 ans) says she now wants to live in France!

Beautiful house and setting with a lovely good-sized pool.

The surrounding countryside was idyllic and all the more special in such a popular area. The house was full of history and charm and had everything we could need. The highlight for the children was the full-size pool and we loved exploring the area.

Superbe

Maison spacieuse et formidable décorée située dans le calme à coté de Belvès. Une grande piscine propre et le jardin est un endroit de détente totale. Enfin quoi redire, tout a été parfait et cela donne envie d'y retourner. Merci à Francois Le Bon pour sa gentillesse.

Une location très reposante

Cette grande maison a gardé un cachet d'authenticité que nous avons apprécié. Avec un environnement reposant, de l'espace, une piscine entretenue, la proximité de sites touristiques mais aussi de petits villages de caractère, nous ne pouvons que recommander cette location à tous ceux qui recherchent en toute simplicité un endroit propice au repos ou aux réunions familiales. De plus que ce soit par téléphone ou par l'intermédiaire des sympathiques voisins chargés de l'entretien, le propriétaire fait preuve de beucoup d'attention et reste disponible pour d'éventuels petits tracas.

Une semaine (seulement) de plaisir

Offre à la hauteur de notre attente : charme patrimonial, calme campagnard et ... piscine bien entretenue et fort appréciée. Sans cette dernière, nous aurions sans doute mal supporté les assauts de la canicule ! Accueil chaleureux avec offre d'assistance si nécessaire. Bienveillante attention, à distance, du propriétaire des lieux. En l'état, cette attachante demeure est plutôt conçue pour accueillir deux couples et quatre jeunes enfants ; plus difficilement sept ou huit adultes. Inutile de courir à l'autre bout du Périgord noir pour en découvrir les richesses. A tout seigneur, tout honneur : à proximité immédiate, BELVES mérite une attentive et patiente découverte. Plus loin mais à moins de trente minutes, des incontournables : MONTPAZIER, le Cloître de CADOUIN, le Château de BEYNAC (un "must" !), la DORDOGNE en canoë ou kayak, SARLAT bien sûr, et puis, tout près, au-dessus de Marnac, plaisir d'un soir en famille, la seule table recommandée par notre hôte : l'auberge 'LES TILLEULS' ... Le mois d'août semble plus généreux que son prédécesseur en offres d'animations musicales et théâtrales. Ce sera pour une autre fois !
