CLEAN and SERENE eco-friendly private cottage!

  • Private cottage, gorgeous 720 sq ft one bedroom, full kitchen, bathroom, spacious living/dining area. Covered lanai with gas grill, patio seating, covered gazebo area with hammocks and hanging chairs. Conveniently located right off famous coastline of the 'Red Road.' Nearby to prior lava flows and ocean adventures, community events, markets and the quaint village of Pahoa. This is absolutely the CLEANEST place you'll find for your Puna vacation!

    Clean, private, quiet living while you explore the Puna District of Big Island from the Kalapana area: lava viewing, whale and dolphin watching during winter months, boat excursions, and much more! Energy efficient home. Short distance to Uncle Robert's Wednesday night music and Sunday morning Maku`u farmer's market. Visit the quaint village of Pahoa for shops and restaurants. Within a 5 minute drive south on the Red Road is Kalapana, where the road ends at the lava fields. There you will find the Kalapana Café and Uncle Robert’s Kava Bar, as well as guided lava walks and a trail across the lava fields to the new beach.

    NO SMOKING on the premises is a strict policy ~ fine to take a short walk to the nearby park for a smoke.

    This is a hosted, primary residence vacation rental. Owner’s main home on the property for 24/7 service. Cottage is completely private.

    This property is cleaned using CDC Covid procedure recommendations. The property is pet free and environmentally friendly, hypoallergenic cleaning products are used.

    TWO WIFI networks are available so we are never without internet. Offering the fastest speed available in this area, plenty fast enough for video conferencing, streaming and any of our internet needs. House is also on solar with electric company backup, so we don't go without electricity. We are SET to stay connected!

    NOTE: This property is owned an operated by a woman, thank you for supporting women! Property is also diversity inclusive and non-discriminatory, all guests are welcome including ethnic, race and culturally diverse, LGBTQAI+, disabilities, etc. If you need any accomodations, let us know and we'll do our absolute best!

Our stay at this VRBO cottage was absolutely magical. It had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing 4-night stay. We especially loved the back outdoor area—it was the perfect place to unwind while listening to the coqui frogs each evening.The bed was very comfortable, and we slept great every night. As a bonus, getting to witness episode 45 of Kīlauea during our visit made the experience even more unforgettable.We would definitely stay here again!

We had no idea this cottage would be so lovely and serene! It was close to most things that we wanted to see although I would have been just as happy to chillax around the property. It was super clean and I miss the drinking water already. MaryRose is an awesome host.

Mary Rose’s place is truly special. The land itself has a peaceful, grounded energy, and Mary Rose is a thoughtful and caring host who made us feel very welcome. The space is very clean and comfortable, with thoughtful touches throughout, and a wonderful selection of books about Hawaii. You’ll be hard pressed to find something Mary Rose hasn’t already thought of in this space. Washer and dryer are outside under cover and very convenient. The outdoor area is a beautiful way to spend your evening on the hammock, or one of the swings. Even an under cover table you can enjoy an afternoon rainstorm.The location is beautiful and feels deeply connected to the island. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, unplug, and experience Hawaii beyond the typical tourist stay, this is it.We headed home rested, relaxed and recharged. We will absolutely stay again!

A fabulous oasis

Mary love has created a fabulous oasis from which to explore the Puna district. The attention to detail was fantastic; everything we thought of needing was thoughtfully provided by our host. We would highly recommend staying here!

The cottage was perfect for my husband and I and a great spot for exploring the Hilo side of the The bed was the most comfortable of any bed we've had at a rental. Or host was helpful and her cottage has all of the little details to make a stay enjoyable. Thank you!helpfulisland.

Dream Honeymoon Cottage

Staying here was the highlight of our honeymoon trip to Hawai 'i. The host Ms. Love did an excellent job presenting the cottage and making it feel like a home away from home! The cottage was gorgeous had everything we needed and more! Would come again and would definitely recommend!

Peaceful and spacious

Amazing!

I love Mary’s cottage. It was beautiful and serene. Not too far out of town, and a beautiful drive to get there. No negatives, it was absolutely perfect.

Fantastic vacation in Paradise!

We had such a wonderful time on our visit! The place was easy to find, very clean, private and beautiful. Mary was wonderful to work with and we had a great chat on the porch one evening. The AC kept the rooms cool, the fridge was cold and the bed was comfortable. We will definitely be staying here again! You can’t go wrong here!

Awesome Stay in Tropical Paradise

We had an amazing time staying at Marylove's cottage. It was so peaceful relaxing in the hammock in the evening and you could see so many stars since its a bit far out of town. Everything we could have needed was provided including snorkel equipment and beach chairs. We will be back!!

Cute cottage stay

We loved this private cottage stay. It had all the amenities of a house and was perfect for what we needed. We were gone from sunrise to sunset just traveling around the island. This was a good location to see the East part of the island. About 1 hour from Volcano National Park and the nearest town was in Pāhoa about 25 minutes away. Everything else is quite a drive but it’s all beautiful.

Cottage with Everything

Really enjoyed my four nights here. Everything was perfect! Immaculate to say the least. Quiet and private. Stars out every morning, brilliant! Wasn’t expecting the weather, but it was stunning! Can’t wait to return! Washer and dryer very handy.

Relax & renew & in a beautiful and eco-friendly environment.

Perfect location for what we wanted to do, bike ride to exercise and view scenery and wildlife, visit the beach, eat some excellent sea food. Mary, was gracious, considerate and prompt to respond to requests and questions. Most of all, Mary was very welcoming. We will return and stay longer
