Packwood is a small mountain town with a big sense of adventure. Grab coffee from a local café, browse the shops, enjoy a meal at one of the town's restaurants or breweries, then spend the day exploring Mount Rainier National Park, White Pass Ski Area, or Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Whether you're here to hike, ski, fish, mountain bike, or simply slow down, Packwood is the perfect home base year-round.

Guests have designated parking, private access to the entire Lodge, and full use of the Lodge’s dedicated outdoor areas, including the wraparound deck, private hot tub, BBQ, fire table, and outdoor seating. Self check-in makes arrival easy, allowing you to settle in and enjoy the property at your own pace.

Living Room

A warm, inviting gathering space with comfortable seating, a cozy fireplace, and Roku TV. Settle in for a movie, relax after a day exploring Mount Rainier, or simply enjoy time together surrounded by the peaceful mountain setting.

Kitchen

A spacious, fully equipped kitchen designed for cooking and gathering, with generous counter space for everything from quick breakfasts to group dinners. Enjoy complimentary coffee and tea, along with a coffee grinder and French press. The kitchen is also stocked with a Ninja cooker, rice cooker, toaster, cooking oil, salt, pepper, and a selection of spices.

Lounge Area

Located just off the kitchen, the lounge features comfortable sectional seating and serves as a relaxed second gathering space. Perfect for morning coffee, conversation, reading, or keeping the cook company while meals are being prepared.

Dining Area

Gather around the large dining table with seating for up to 12, offering plenty of room for memorable meals, celebrations, games, and long evenings together. Its generous size makes it an especially inviting gathering place for families and groups.

Primary Bedroom

An expansive primary suite with a king bed and Roku TV, with plenty of room to unwind. Wake up to beautiful mountain views right from the bed, and enjoy the convenience of a private en-suite full bathroom.

A spacious en-suite bathroom featuring a large walk-in shower with dual shower stations, a double vanity, and a dedicated makeup counter where you can get ready while enjoying beautiful mountain views.

Queen Bedroom

A welcoming guest bedroom with a queen bed and Roku TV, thoughtfully furnished to provide a comfortable and restful place to recharge.

Bunk Room

Designed with families and groups in mind, the bunk room features two Twin XL bunk beds, providing four individual sleeping spaces with the added length and comfort of Twin XL mattresses.

Guest Bathroom

A full guest bathroom conveniently located for guests staying in the queen bedroom and bunk room, featuring a spacious soaking tub for relaxing after a day of exploring.

Half Bathroom

An additional half bath provides extra convenience for groups and makes mornings and evenings a little easier when everyone is getting ready.

Game Room

Let the friendly competition begin! The game room features an electronic dartboard and a versatile 3-in-1 game table that transforms between billiards, table tennis, and a dining table. A fun space for family game nights, friendly tournaments, and making memories together.

Private Office

Need to catch up on work or take a quiet call? The Lodge features a separate, enclosed office space located next to the game room, offering a dedicated spot to stay productive while enjoying your mountain getaway.

Wraparound Deck

One of the highlights of Elkai Lodge, the wraparound deck offers beautiful views of Mount Rainier and the surrounding mountains. Settle into the Adirondack chairs, gather around the fire table with seating for up to 8 beneath a covered pergola, fire up the gas BBQ grill, or enjoy an outdoor meal at the dining table for 6—all surrounded by the peaceful mountain setting.

Fire Pit

Gather around the outdoor fire pit, surrounded by Adirondack seating and warm string lights overhead. It’s a cozy spot to unwind in the evenings, share stories, and enjoy the peaceful mountain setting.

Private Hot Tub

Unwind in the private 6-person hot tub after a day of hiking, skiing, or exploring Mount Rainier. Surrounded by the peaceful mountain setting, it’s the perfect place to soak, relax, and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Laundry & Family Essentials

A dedicated laundry area in the mudroom offers a washer and dryer for guest use. Traveling with little ones? The Lodge also includes a pack & play, high chair, children's dinnerware, and a selection of toys to help make family stays a little easier.

Wildlife & Mountain Setting

Elkai Lodge is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, where elk, deer, and wild turkeys are frequent visitors. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, fresh mountain air, and the opportunity to experience wildlife right from the property. Please admire all wildlife from a safe distance.

A vehicle is recommended for exploring the area. Downtown Packwood is moments away, Mount Rainier National Park is an easy drive, and White Pass Ski Area is approximately 20–25 minutes from the property. During winter months, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended, especially when snow is in the forecast.

Please note: Elkai Lodge is the main house on the property. Elkai Studio, a separate short-term rental above the detached garage, is approximately 80–100 ft away. Both have dedicated outdoor spaces, though there is no fence between them and a small portion of the property is shared.

Wildlife is common in Packwood, and you may see elk, deer, wild turkeys, and other animals passing through. Please admire them from a safe distance and never feed or approach them.

As with any mountain destination, weather and road conditions can change quickly, especially in winter. We recommend checking conditions before traveling and arriving prepared for seasonal mountain weather. Quiet hours are 10 PM–8 AM to ensure a peaceful stay for everyone.
