"Service and staff were absolutely fantastic. Very polite from booking in. To checking out. A great visit so have had to book again. Exceptional afternoon tea. Loved the drawing room. Bedrooms are great. The background music in thr longes a little loud for back ground. That’s my only criticism. "

"Arrived to a warm welcome, supplied with all information required and reassured there was 24 hour cover should it be needed. The room was spotless, comfortable and had everything required. We were able to alter the heating to suit ourselves, making our stay very comfortable. The ensuite had ample big fluffy towels and luxury toiletries. We even had a yellow rubber duck. Breakfast was great...a substantial menu but happily did just scrambled for myself and baked beans for my husband. Also...

"Lovely stay - nice room overlooking the canal. Breakfast was good, but glad I included it at booking as the daily rate is a bit steep i.e £20 for full English Breakfast. Always perplexes me when it is a double room that there is only one chair to sit on around the table - why not two chairs, as you don't always want to sit on the bed. Good checkout, and left my luggage for a few hours. "

"Staff were impeccable. Food excellent. Whole standard of the place was top class. Just a few minor points to note & could be improved - bedroom window could not be opened to let in fresh air & badly needed dusting. Not enough electrical sockets & could have been better positioned close to mirror for make up, hair etc. Other than that, it was a beautiful atmospheric and classy hotel and full of character. "

"Although there was scaffolding on the back of the building, there was no noise or evidence of building being done when inside, a credit to the cleaning team. The staff are wonderful from the great welcome on arrival to the next morning’s fabulous breakfast team. Thank you"

"The staff members we spoke to were lovely. The room was very clean and apart from having to ask for more milk sachets, we had no issue with the room. The beds were very comfortable and pillows were fantastically squidgy. The shower was easy to use but I did miss the provision of a bathrobe…however I do understand why these are not provided to guests anymore. The armchair, foot rest and cushions made the room very special, for me in particular. I enjoyed drinking tea whilst watching the Winter...
