Ocean front cottage


What a view! Take in the ocean views from the sunroom, living room, kitchen, and primary bedrooms. Enjoy the ocean breeze on the spacious deck, rocking in a rocking chair or soaking up the sun on a lounger. There are plenty of toys to make your beach visit easy breezy including boogie boards, beach cart, cooler, beach towels and chairs. Inside there’s an air hockey table, 75” flatscreen TV with a guest Netflix account, Wi-Fi, and plenty of seating to spread out. Comfortable seating for dining or working from the banquet dining table in the sunroom comes with an awesome view of the beach. Lil Salty is a charming and comfortable cottage for most guests and although our bathrooms are on the smaller side, both showers have a detachable shower head wand to make it more comfortable.
Nearby, for your convenience is a King’s Beachware, Publix grocery store, and convenient restaurants including, Pepperoni Grill for pizza, pasta, and salads. Checkout Kai Joe’s taco stand, or for a cold sweet treat there’s Dole Whips at the park!
Oak Island has a lot of amenities including putt-putt, a skateboard park, kids playground, movies and music in the park (seasonal), and so many delicious restaurants. My favorite is Shagger Jacks - their fried chicken sandwich and skinny fries with comeback sauce is a winner!
The beaches at Oak Island are family friendly and welcoming to all! We only ask that you stay off the dunes and do not disturb the sea turtles in nesting season.
Lil Salty loves all people and animals, but asks that you keep your four legged friends at home.

The accommodations were fantastic! The living spaces and bedrooms were very comfortable. The view was to die for! The kitchen was stocked with extra conveniences and the host was super responsive. I will be back!

Enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing week at the beach with our family. Owner was extremely helpful and responsive with a small appliance issue. The cottage was exactly as advertised. Beds were comfortable, whole home was very clean and the location was awesome! Hope to come back to Oak Island and would definitely stay here again!!

Cute, basic place on beach

We had a very short (2-night) stay. Place is cute, furniture was comfortable. 2 tiny bathrooms, to close door off main bedroom had to push down handle once door was pulled closed. Nice view of dunes and water, easy access to beach (not visible due to dunes). I have rented a lot of places. This place is quite small, so family or close friends would probably work. We could not find any wine glasses, but there was a coffee pot and filters.

Fall Family Beach Trip

Lil Salty is the perfect beach house to really have a relaxing and fun beach vacation! The views are beautiful and really add to the enjoyment of the stay since you can constantly see the ocean. We loved ending our day on the beach just relaxing on the couch and watching the huge screen TV. The host couldn’t be any nicer or accommodating ! We will be back soon!

Lil Salty was just a lil bit of happiness

This was a gals weekend of just retreat, games, Sun and relaxation. This property offered everything we needed and Anna was amazing to work with. Any issues that came up were addressed timely, prompt and full attention given by Anna. We will definitely book again!

Lil PERFECT

Where to even start? This place is wonderful! From the moment I booked Anna was always quick to respond to any questions I had. Her place is exactly like pictured. Very clean!!! Lots of little extras available for use at the beach. We enjoyed the beautiful views. Being right next to the Public Beach Access with a walk out mat was an added perk. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

We Loved Lil Salty!

Lil’ Salty = lots of happy!

The moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice in selecting Lil’ Salty for our three day getaway. The proximity of the beach and local immensities makes it a perfect stay. Great spot for a girls weekend

We rented this house for a girls weekend with my mom, sister, and daughter. It was the perfect amount of space for us. We really wanted something on the beach so my mom could have an ocean view without having to go onto the beach, and this did that. The owner was so quick to communicate. And we even got early check-in, which was super helpful. If you are looking for a quick getaway, this place really does have all the amenities you need and is centrally located to everything. It was a perfect mini vacation!

Lil' Salty is clean and cozy!

We were there 6 nights. The cottage is clean, cozy and well appointed with everything you need. Owner was very understanding when I misunderstood our check out time. We would use this place again!

Just wonderful!

Lil Salty is such a great house and location!! The owner has done so many nice additions for guests and we felt right at home! Pampered even! We could not have been happier with the view and the ease of access to the beach! Wow! We love this place!!

Great Thanksgiving weekend

The house was just perfect for our Thanksgiving weekend. The view was phenomenal and we really enjoyed all the amenities of the house - especially the huge tv and comfortable couch. The hostess couldn’t be nicer and very responsive. We will definitely be back to enjoy more time at Lil Salty!!

Wonderful property

The property was comfortable for our three adults and one child. The beds were very comfortable and clean. Lots of things to do. My son enjoyed learning to play Bocce on the beach with me from the set under the deck. He also spent plenty of time on the boogie boards provided. My family loved getting cozy on the spacious couch in front of the tv watching movies as the cool breeze blew through the back door directly off the beach. Everything we needed to have a great stay was here including a nice little cooler for my cold beverages on the back porch as I watched the waves roll in. We all would definitely come back again. Thanks!

Another Great Getaway

My husband and I have been taking long weekend trips about every 3 months and book with VRBO every time. We chose Oak Island due to other friends going there for fishing season. The Little Salty was perfect for us!! Easy access to the ocean and the deck allowed me sun time and reading without hassle of the sand. lol. I cooked all our meal’s except one and the kitchen had everything I needed to make that easy!! Thank you Anna you were a terrific host!

The "Roly-Poly" House

This property is not accurate in its listing. The house is not level and is in desperate need of many repairs. Underneath are completely rusted bolts and bracing that has crumbled and fallen to the ground. The rust on the back deck is so bad that the screw heads have come off. You can forget about using the complimentary beach amenities due to broken boogie boards, rusted beach chairs, and no cooler. The HVAC filter was so filthy that I had to go buy one myself and replace it. Both bathroom showers are painted, and the paint is peeling off. Not for sure why they are painted. The sunroom does not have any blinds or curtains to shade from the heat, so it was very hot during the day and not to mention no privacy from people looking in the house while walking to and from the beach access. The kitchen window has mold all around it, the appliances were dirty, and kitchen utensils definitely need to be replaced. Upon contacting the owner regarding our concerns and attempting to explain what needed to be addressed, she said, "Rust is normal for being near the ocean". She went on to say, "People call this house 'The Roly-Poly House' for the uneven floors and it is completely normal. And, the HVAC filter was replaced in May". Well, if that's true, there is a real serious dust issue. With the home in such bad shape, with the black mold, rust, uneven floors, dust, and the owner being condescending, we left immediately after being advised by vrbo not to stay due to health and safety.

Perfect family getaway

We loved our stay at Lil Salty! Anna was responsive before, during and after our visit. The house was the perfect accommodation for our kids....complete with everything we needed. My 5 year old loved the air hockey table and we used the pack n play for my 2 year old. With 2 little ones, even when we weren't on the beach, the view of the beach from the house kept the vacation vibes going! Highly recommend!!

September Stay at Lil' Salty

We loved it. Hope to stay there again! Had everything we needed. Right next to beach access. Kitchen well stocked. Open with lots of light. Mattresses great to sleep on. So nice to wake up and see the ocean. I hope we can get back there! Front and back decks were great. Had all the amenities. Very much reccommend!

Great Beach Week

We really enjoyed our stay at Lil Salty! The view from the large windows was really beautiful and made it so nice to have a full view of the beach without even going outside. We loved the large 75 inch Tv and watched movies at night after a full day on the beach. The house is decorated beautifully keeping the original cottage charm but having a modern feel.

Cute House

The house is very cute and nicely decorated. Our family had a great vacation here. Our observations: The kitchen had almost everything we needed. The bathrooms are tiny, so it is a tight squeeze for anyone close to 6 ft tall. There is plenty of seating in the living room although it could use a couple of floor lamps to improve the lighting at night. The location is great for beach access, but that also means a very crowded beach since it is at the public access. Get outside early to claim some space. The provided beach chairs are rusty so bring your own.
