Charming 1960s Cottage 3 Min Beach and Shops

Includes: 2 bikes, beach wagon, chairs, umbrellas, towels, and blankets. Have fun with the whole family at this stylish, charming mid-century cottage! Drop your bags and head to the beach! This unique mid-century charmer is perfectly situated on a quiet street with ocean access at one end and the Intracoastal Waterway at the other. This cottage offers the best Oak Island living, just a short, 5-minute walk to the beach, local restaurants, shops, and more. Shibumi rental option via QR code.

Living Area:
Step into a bright, airy living space with vaulted wood ceilings and transom windows that flood the home with natural light. The cozy yet spacious layout is perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach.

Kitchen:
The updated kitchen features new cabinets, butcher block countertops, a farm sink, cooking essentials, and newer appliances, making it a joy to prepare meals.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms:
The cottage has been thoughtfully updated with remodeled bathrooms. The primary bedroom has a King Bed and an en suite bathroom with a shower and tub. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds, thoughtfully furnished with 100% cooling cotton sheets. There is one blow-up bed or a sofa for the 5th Bed. Ceiling fans are located in every room, ensuring comfort throughout your stay.

Outdoor Space:
Enjoy the partially fenced yard with a large concrete patio, perfect for outdoor dining or lounging. An outdoor beer garden table and benches and an outdoor umbrella provide a lovely outdoor eating area.

Storage Shed:
We have some basic beach gear for you to use! 4 adult chairs and 2 kid chairs, several games, 2 umbrellas etc.

Guests can access the entire cottage, including the yard and storage shed. Parking is available on the property. The entrance is accessible via a smart lock device on the front door.

Garbage Pick-up: If you are here Monday night, please set the cans on the street for Tuesday's pick-up. Otherwise, we have a service that will set out the garbage & recycling on the street.


CHECKOUT PROCEDURE:
ANYTHING WET: Please place it into the shower (like towels, etc.) Please run a load of towels on your way out the door - if you can!
DISHES: please place any used dishes in the dishwasher & run the load
GARBAGE - Please place all trash and recycling into the larger receptacles on the side of the house
BEDS: please pull the blanket down on any bed used. Please do not strip the beds.
BEACH GEAR: Please ensure all beach gear is sand-free, stacked, and ready for the next guest.
FOOD: Please dispose of all the food you brought into the house. Feel free to leave oils, spices, or condiments.
CONDIMENTS & SOAPS: Please leave all condiments, creamers, coffee, detergents, and soaps for our next guests.
FURNITURE/AIR MATTRESSES: Please return any furniture you have moved to its original location. Be careful not to scratch the floors! You will need to pick things up, and please do not drag them across the floor.

While we hate the word “rules,” we do ask that you adhere to some to make your stay here pleasant for you (and for us!) and for our neighbors!

We are so happy to have you as our guests! This is our personal home, so we know you will treat it with care and courtesy. We have stayed at many Airbnbs ourselves over the years and love what this community has become. We love the hosting and hope you have an incredible time in Oak Island! If there is anything we can do to improve or make your stay more pleasant, please do not hesitate to let us know! Here we go!
FIRST AID/FIRE BLANKET: Both are located below the kitchen sink.

CO2/FIRE MONITOR: located centrally on the ceiling. Connected to Google Nest.

Extra linens: Extra blankets & sheets are in the bedrooms and living area. Please distribute as needed.

SINGLE AEROBED: It is located at the top of the closet of the twin bedroom.

DOGS: When you arrive, the dog bed should be inside the door. It is large, round, and brown, hard to miss! Dog bowls are under the kitchen sink. Dog toys should be in the bed or cubbies inside the front door.

PARTY / NOISE: If you’re coming to Oak Island to party, you’ve picked a great city to do so, unfortunately, just not at our place. Sure, we want you to have a great time, enjoy the beach, and have fun, but nothing too crazy, please! Please enjoy your music, but please be respectful of our neighbors. Though we’re sure it won’t come to it, serious complaints of unruly behavior will unfortunately result in you being asked to leave. Not good for you. Not good for us.

NOISE: To be considerate to our neighbors, please keep things quieter after 10 p.m. We live in a family-friendly neighborhood, and little ones hit the sheets early. And if you want to listen to music on the deck, please keep it at a reasonable level.

CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT: Check-in is at 4 p.m., and check-out is by 10 a.m. Arriving slightly earlier or want that extra hour to sleep? It should be fine, but please check with us first. Depending on the time of year, check-in/check-out times can be sharp due to be sharp due to cleaning constraints. With permission, you are welcome to stop by and see if the cleaning has been completed. If the space is not ready, You are welcome to leave your bags inside the door if you like. We ask that you check out a nearby spot like KoKo Cabana or Turtles - both are right on the beach - until the cleaning is complete!

DAMAGE: We understand that accidents and spills happen. But please let us know when they do. We can likely fix them or help you troubleshoot to improve your chances of having your full security deposit returned. The house is stocked with all sorts of cleaning supplies (below the kitchen sink and above the washing machine), so you and your guests can easily handle most messes.

NO SMOKING: We have a strict no-smoking policy inside the house (although you are welcome to smoke either out front or back) – please place butts in a can or bottle safely and dispose in the trash.

AC/HEATING: Please leave the thermostat at 72 in the summer and 68 in the winter.

FIREPLACE: The fireplace is decorative for now. We are rehabbing it next year.

OCCUPANCY: We understand that you may want additional guests to stay for various reasons. If so, please let us know. We’re reasonable folk and will accommodate wherever possible. In general, the space can comfortably accommodate 5 guests. Extra guests will be charged an extra fee for wear and tear and cleaning.

SECURITY: Our neighborhood is very safe. We do not have a security system.

PARKING: Out of respect for our neighbors, please utilize the driveway as much as possible.

APPLIANCE/HOME USAGE INFORMATION:
BEACH!!: Please use our outdoor shower and/or hose to help you keep the sand at bay. Please do your best to keep the sand outside. We realize it can be a losing battle, but we hope the shower and hose help!! You will also find a little, round, black foot bath near the front porch if you want to fill it with water; it can be helpful!

BEACH TOYS: Please find a few beach toys, wagon, 2 bikes, and chairs behind the shed. Feel free to use what you like. Please hose off the sand and place the toys back in an orderly manner so the next guest can easily use them. Thanks so much for your help with this!!

EXTRAS FOR RENT: SHIBUMI SHADE - this is our son’s little business. He bought the shade and is renting to our guests. The shade is a GAME CHANGER. It is so easy to set up and the shade is perfect. It is located in the cubbies by the front door.

WASHER DRYER: Feel free to wash your laundry and use the detergent supplied.

DISHWASHER: The dishwasher powder is under the sink; feel free to run it if you don’t like washing dishes by hand! Please use the black or teal drying mat to dry hand-washed dishes. Watermarks leave stains on the butcher block counters.

REFRIGERATOR: Please utilize any condiments you need. FREEZER: Please use the ice trays to make ice.

TV: We have a Roku TV & remote. Feel free to sign in to your accounts.

OTHER HOUSEHOLD ITEMS:
The kitchen is fully stocked. Feel free to use any other household appliances. PLEASE DO NOT CUT ON THE BUTCHER BLOCK. PLEASE USE THE CUTTING BOARDS LOCATED on the counter. Please leave us a note if you finish anything so we can replace it for our next guest. Thanks!! Everyday household items are there for your use if that makes your life easier:

Wraps, foils, paper products
Oils, spices, condiments, etc. in the kitchen. No need to stock up on everyday things at the supermarket if we have them here
Shampoo and soaps and other bathroom basics

GRILLING: If you want to use the propane grill, please do so, but turn the propane tank OFF when finished. Please let us know if you run out!
KITCHEN WASTE: We do not have a disposal. Please clean out the sink strainer frequently!
GROCERIES: If you need to stock up on staples, Food Lion, Lowes Foods, the ABC Liquor store, and Publix are less than a mile away.
SANITARY DISPOSAL: A plumbing problem is the easiest way to disrupt an enjoyable stay. To prevent this, please place items like sanitary napkins and tampons in the
