Jose Cuervo is a fantastically quirky beach cottage with a lot of unique designs throughout that boast a lot of character. The beautiful stained glass windows found in many of the rooms, the glass front kitchen cabinets and the brick fireplace in the living area present a bit of art and history about the home, complimented by modern touches with the luxury plank flooring throughout and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. As an event home, the back yard provides the perfect place to gather with friends and family to grill out for a family reunion, anniversary or birthday party. Start out the afternoon lounging in a comfortable chair with good company and your favorite drink, allowing time to just slip by as the sound of crickets chime in one by one to announce that evening has come. Relaxing "Blue Dolphin" home

We originally booked this house to stay in, but unfortunately it wasnt available at the time of our trip due to maintenance. However, Better Beach Rentals adjusted our stay and got us into the Blue Dolphin. They were fabulous with finding us a replacement rental, we are limited to our choices since we travel with 2 great danes, and the home was fabulous. Close to beach access and just far away enough from the "busy" strip. They were quick to respond to our concerns and would definitely book with them again. Again, this was a different home than we originally picked but the agent was great to work with. Great for families who just want that quiet beach feel.

DO NOT STAY HERE

This rental was terrible. False advertising by Better Beach Rentals. Killed 7 roaches! House was not clean. Floors dirty, dead roaches behind refrigerator. Furniture in living area scratched up badly(looks like cats did it) and stained, ceiling was dirty and dusty from the vents, spiderwebs hanging from the ceiling, Yard was not mowed, probably 2 ft high in the backyard, maybe 1 ft front yard. Pieces of trash in front yard. NO CABLE in any room, could not get the 2 tv's in bedrooms to work. Twin bedroom had no TV. TV in living room on streaming service. No private master suite. No outside shower. No iron. This house was a joke and a huge disappointment.

Cockroach central

If you are interested like another review mentioned to living with cockroaches or “palmetto bugs” as The rental company manager called them as well as a “mild” inconvenience then this is the place for you! Killing 20 within a 10 hour time frame in my opinion is an infestation not just a minor issue. We left after 2 nights, no refund and was never placed back up to try and rent it. Holes in the ceiling to the attic, covered in cobwebs no wonder there are cockroaches. And to think, I paid a significant amount of money to stay with cockroaches!!! No answer to my 3 emails to rental company either. Shameful is what this place is…..DO NOT RENT IT

Picture looks nice but…

Looks like owners put an effort to make this property to look good and neat. When we entered it was clean and nice, but short after arrival we found following: 1) Flies. Our check in day was Saturday. Garbage collection day in the neighborhood is Monday ( if I’m not mistaken). The garbage bin was full on Saturday and exposed to the sun. As a result - if you want to spend some time outside - flies will be there in no time and it smells actually. 2) Outside area - is facing the street. Say hello to every neighbor passing by car on on just walking by. 3) Cockroaches. Next day after arrival, evening time, we found one walking inside the house. Every day since that we got visitors… 4) Neighborhood. The neighborhood is good… for the people who actually leave there. But this is not for vacations. You have to drive to the beach. You have to drive to the restaurants, You have to drive to the grocery store. This is quite obvious from the map location and could be considered as subjective opinion. May be if the house would be more “vacational” this would be lesser concern. But it is what it is anyway… 5) Beds. They were not very comfortable for us. One more sleeping pillow would be nice. Again may be subjective… All in all we like Oak Island area as a place for vacation, but next time will be looking for other rental property.

Cute but needs cleaning/repairs

Check in was easy and access was good from the house to the beach. The house was quite dirty by my standards but was very cute and unique. The maintenance and house keeping were quick to respond to our concerns. They sprayed for insects but didnt seems to help the situation. I dont want to sound totally negative because we did enjoy our week of vacation and the house was nice after we cleaned things up to our liking.
