The River Bure winds through the village which has a large village green, a great place to sit and watch the boating activity, and there are pubs located on the waterside with beer gardens. Wroxham, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads, is 3½ miles away where day boats can be hired and trips taken to explore the miles of waterways rich with bird and wild life. Riverside cafés, restaurants, garden centre and shops offer great days out. Wroxham Barns, just a few minutes outside Wroxham itself has craft barns, eateries, petting farm animals and play park for the children. Enjoy a trip on the Bure Valley Steam Railway which can be caught from Coltishall to visit Wroxham and the popular market town of Aylsham. Excellent sandy beaches are within a 30-minute drive. Mundersley, Happisburgh and Sea Palling all offer excellent wide sandy beaches and traditional seaside amusements and cafés. The city of Norwich is just a 20-minute drive with its cathedral, theatre, castle museum, two indoor shopping centres, a market square, art galleries, plenty of cafés and restaurants.
