  • Love at first sight! Voted "the best view on the Bay" by longtime locals. Supreme sunrises flood light through a bank of windows overlooking the largest bay on Lake Ontario. Experience Mid Century charm with First Class amenities including: premium cable channels, ceiling fans throughout to catch the breezes, pillow-top beds with goose down pillows, top brand appliances & fixtures with vintage surprises such as an original Hamilton Beach blender in avocado green, of course,  and Sunbeam Electric Can Opener.
    The huge deck overlooking the bay and our garden descending to the waterfront features barstools, dining table and chairs; daylong shady and sunny patches.
    Boat from our dock or drive to our favorite spots. Gastronomic delights such as homemade fruit pies, Imprint Coffee roasters, locals; 3 miles to historic Sodus Point with lifeguarded sandy beaches on the Bay and Lake Ontario; dining Key West style at Bay Street or burgers & barbecue with live music on the Bay at Captain Jacks; Waterfront dining around the Bay; Sunday concerts on the lawn of the historic Lighthouse museum on Lake Ontario; free outdoor movies on the baseball diamond with ice cream and 'hots' across the street. Tastings at breweries, wineries, and distilleries nearby and throughout the Finger Lakes region; Rochester offers world-renowned museums and art Galleries; endless dining choices... This area is renowned for its charming canal towns along the Erie River, which provide an enchanting day trip that will lead to the inimitable Niagara Falls with forever memories. Farmer's markets, price-conscious antiquing. Gorgeous hiking, biking and disc golf trails are ubiquitous throughout the county's waterways, parklands, orchards, and lanes lined with wildflowers.
    Our classic 1952 lake cottage has been completely restored and updated, keeping the best of design enhanced with modern convenience. Adorned with period proper treasures: original Fitz and Floyd rattan sectional seating circa 1950, sea captain's trunk, nautical Rock Maple bedroom suites, Heywood Wakefield dining ensemble seats 10. New meets 20th century with original heart pine floors, an expansive Great Room with cathedral ceiling lit by a c.1949 French country chandelier and accented by a vast hand-built lake stone fireplace. Our gourmet kitchen features granite countertops and a breakfast bar with a convection oven, Cuisinart processor, KitchenAid mixer, coffee bean grinder, French press & traditional coffeemaker. Our two bathrooms showcase showers with tumbled marble, hi-gloss subway tile, glass block wall, glass shower door, and Kohler fixtures.
    The spacious deck overlooking stunning Great Sodus Bay is the perfect gathering spot for morning coffee, bird watching, Happy Hour, barbecue, star gazing.. endless photo ops. What's not to love?

Lovely spot for a relaxing get away. We spent several days going to the Finger Lakes for wine and cider tasteing and the rest chilling on the deck. Local family visited and everyone enjoyed swimming and floating in the bay. The local Sodus Point beach was a nice change and uncrowded.

Family vacation

We really enjoyed our time at Happy Trails. The view from the house and the deck was beautiful. We enjoyed being on the water although it should be noted that there are 50 steps to the water and the stairs are a quite uneven. The cottage was very comfortable and my family really liked it. We had a great time together and have decided that we would definitely go back.

Paradise

This was my third time staying. I love this property. Breathtaking sun rises and sunsets. Modern amenities. It is the perfect place to unwind and relax. The deck is awesome to sit and enjoy the view. My dog and i enjoyed swimming. I will return next year as it eill now become a tradition. I love it there.

Good location and water access with some problems

I just want to list out the facts here. Pros: great location，close to beach for sunset; easy access to lake; great for sunrise; charming house; have tons of cooking equipment; close to Niagara Falls and finger lakes. Cons: the house hasn’t been taken cared of carefully. generally not clean, smells, lots of bugs in the small bathroom and the sink is clogged. One bathroom door was accidentally locked and 7 of us had to share one tiny bathroom until the owner responded to us 11 hours later . Neighbor’s big dogs leashed free came to the front door and backyard deck. We were terrified since we don’t know them. One of them pooped right by the entrance, the owner did not proactively think a way to clean it up even though they seems lived minutes away from the house or knows the owner of the dog. At least do something. The backyard stairs to the lake wiggles a lot and very slippery. There is a safety concern. No access to washer and dryer which is not convenient.

Family Lake Time!

This is our second trip to this beautiful home. We can not say enough about the views, location and the amenities. The interior design and all the little extras add up to such a special experience. Plus being able to bring our dog along is the best. We tried a new place called Rileys (only minutes away) and water views with outdoor dining. The food was excellent and very reasonable. Also right next door is a brewery which is also dog friendly. LOVE this area and the accommodations. We will be back.

Beautiful lake view

What we enjoyed most was sitting on the large deck overlooking Sodus Bay. Sunset was our favorite time of day to watch the clouds and water. Beautiful view, lots of birds, lovely landscaping. The interior of the house was charming, bright colors, lots of vintage furniture and decorative items, well equipped kitchen. Many wooden steps down from the deck to the shoreline, a bit hard for the oldest and youngest to navigate. We wished we’d packed paper towels, toilet paper and napkins as the supplies in the house were minimal and shopping options nearby were limited. All in all a good experience with lots of local and day trip options that family members of all ages enjoyed.

Beautiful getaway

The pristine view from the deck cannot be duplicated. The appointments inside are so charming and the cottage is so well equipped making a weeks stay sooooo easy. But….it’s all about the outdoors!! The large deck is just incredible - the view is mesmerizing- the side yards and thoughtful plantings are enchanting!! This was our 2nd time back and this time we brought along my brother and sister- in-law. They travelled from beautiful Southern California and were not disappointed! Thank you so much Aurora and Fred for sharing your piece of paradise! Truly a treasure!

Spectacular

We already booked to return. This property is awesome. We had an issue with ac on holiday and the owner got someone over to remedy very quickly. The sunsets are spectacular. The deck is where we spent most of our time. It was a wonderful experience. We will be going back in a few months

Great views and location

This adorable house is a great place to spend time with family with a large, open, multi-level family room and kitchen off to the side. The furnishings are cute with eclectic antiques throughout.The panoramic view of Sodus Bay out the back windows is gorgeous. The house is located 1 hour from Syracuse and Rochester and 45 minutes from the north end of the Finger Lakes. There is plenty of cookware in the kitchen. You could easily cook Thanksgiving dinner here without needing to bring anything. The fireplace is beautiful and a nice place to sit in the evening. There are plenty of places nearby that sell firewood for better prices than the supermarket. We visited the house in late November. Outside temperatures were 30-40. The heater struggled to keep the house warm, as it was chilly inside at 64 even with the thermostat raised. The hardwood floors felt cooler. A comfy sweatshirt and slippers is recommended.

Great Family Vacation on Sodus Bay

Overall the property was very nice. The views from the deck and great room were amazing. The location on Sodus Bay was perfect for utilizing our boat each day. We loved the AC units in each room which allowed us to sleep comfortably. The great room was very spacious and allowed the family to play games and be together in the evenings. A few things to note: The stairs down to the dock were very overgrown with vegetation. This made it difficult to carry things down to the dock safely. The stairs could also use some repair as they did not seem to be as sturdy as they could be. The dock was sturdy enough although most cleats were not fastened correctly to the dock so lines from our boat needed to be tied to the bracing underneath the dock. There were also other sections of the dock sitting on shore that possibly should have been in the water. There was no storage in the kitchen for food. The shower in the main bathroom was dirty at the base. This could use some work We paid for linens. The sheets and pillow cases in the master bedroom were very old and stained. Overall we had a great week with the family. We would possibly rent this cottage again in the future.

Beautiful waterfront view

This is a beautifully landscaped property with an amazing view of Sodus Bay. The deck was large enough for the whole family to enjoy. There is a small yard for games and for the dog. Our dog enjoyed swimming every day and was exhausted by the end of the week. Towels and bed linens are not provided so be sure to bring your own. Also, there is no washer and dryer.

Great week on the bay!

This sweet cottage is on a quiet part of Sodus Bay. We loved being able to walk to the dock and take a boat or jet ski ride with ease. Our entire party loved the open concept living space. We spent nearly every morning and evening on the deck. It's large enough that we also played corn hole several times! We brought our small Solo stove and got some great campfires in. The kitchen was stocked with pretty much everything we needed (we have a very fussy cook in the family and he's always "missing something"). We also loved having the independent AC in each space - it helped us keep the temps where we like it! We didn't watch much TV because we were out on the water, but it appeared we would have had all we needed. As an avid gardener, I loved all of the landscaping! A few things to note: * there are close to 50 stairs to the dock. They were manageable for everyone in our party, but they got very slippery when wet and some of them were loose. Small children and anyone with mobility issues may have trouble. During our stay, some of the trees were overgrown over the stairs and could be cut back. Getting items like coolers to a boat could be difficult, so take care. *the dock accommodated our boat and jet ski. Some of the cleats were broken or missing, so we had to get creative when securing things. *the water right in front of the cottage has some seaweed/growth at the shoreline, so you probably won't enter the water there. There was no ladder for the dock, so you either wade through the weeds or jump from the end (but you have to figure out how to get back out of the water). *the entire area lost power one night. I texted the owner asking for some suggestions on candles/alternative lighting and didn't get a response until the next morning. We were able to manage, but a timely response for that issue would have been appreciated. *there is no washer/dryer on the property. The owner let me know that there was a laundromat in town. Turns out, it was shut down. We had to do some searching to find one and it was 10-15 minutes away. With lots of swimming/boating and some rain, we really needed on-site laundry. *the listing states that the house sleeps 8 and it does. However, there is an "extra guest fee" for parties over 6. This is not explicitly stated anywhere and we learned of it after we saw the charge. Overall, we loved our stay! We need more space next year or we would return for sure. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us.

Great stay!

We had an amazing visit. Hikes at Chimney Bluffs, and very reasonable boat rentals brought us to the sandbar. The house had every detail we needed and the layout was perfect for our group!

Loved this lakeside retreat. House lovingly updated. A bit of a drive to some attractions but really enjoyed the serene Beauty of being on the lake. It was so nice to have our pets with us and they enjoyed being out on the large deck with us. A great vacation well enjoyed by all!

Beautiful View, lovely property

Two things that drew me to this property were the bright, open look of the house and the amazing view, and I was not disappointed by either of those things. The house was as advertised, and had just about everything in the way of incidentals that you would need. Our hosts were very quick to answer any questions we had and very easy to deal with. I would definitely visit this property again! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Relaxing Getaway

Wow!!! Absolutely stunning!! The Views, the cottage with its charming furnishings, the kitchen was great to work in! The yard and gardens are just beautiful but the deck has to be the best! Aurora and Fred truly have a talent they have put to use in setting this place up. We just loved staying here - thank you so much for sharing your fantastic property. We can't wait to return.

Winter Getaway

Beautiful Lake Ontario

Very nice house right on Lake Ontario. The house was great, and the property managers provided lots of great information about the area. Rochester is less than an hour away, and is a great place for shopping or dining. The hosts were responsive and the place was well appointed. Wonderful Fall views and we would like to return in the Summer for some time ON the lake. P.S. Our dog loved the place!

Wonderful Week

We enjoyed staying at this lovely house for the week. The view of the lake was amazing especially the sunrises and sunsets. The location was great for our daily road trips to Rochester, Ithaca and Letchworth Park and other spots. The neighborhood was quiet. The house is located on a dead end road. We took the dog for a walk each morning before got in the car to go exploring. The property owners were great to work with. We had one question while we were there and when we contacted the owner we received our answer. Prior to arrival any questions I had were answered. The house was clean and fully stocked with all that we could need Thank you for opening your house to others.
