We arrived at Anna's House only to be told that our reservation had been cancelled, about 3 months ago! I tried to show them my hotels.com account on my tablet to prove that the booking was still live but they were not interested, and also mentioned that I had received an email only a few days before to confirm the reservation. The whole situation was rather unpleasant and can only think that Anna's House had accepted another booking, for all 4 of their rooms, from another stream but without bothering to inform us, and contrary to their claim that they had in fact cancelled our booking. Even though they received no confirmation from us regarding the cancellation, which would be rather difficult (or should I say impossible) as we never received anything from them or from hotels.com, they went ahead and cancelled anyway leaving us in a very difficult and potentially dangerous situation. To add insult to injury they applied for a pre authorisation charge totalling 30% of the total fee payable on arrival, two days ahead of our check in - if this had been cancelled then how would this be possible! Whether this is incompetence or a complete lack of regard for someone else's plans and welfare it has left a very sour taste in my mouth. Please be cautious as my gut feeling is dishonesty and underhand behaviour rather than human error. The Old Schoolhouse just outside of Comber were able to offer us a room for the night - we had a pleasant evening and this I can recommend.
