Nearby, Derwent Walk Country Park is an amazing large park. The country park runs from Swalwell to Rowlands Gill through the River Derwent Valley, and is made up of several countryside sites joined together, including The Derwent Walk and Derwenthaugh Park. The Coast-to-Coast Cycle Path, National Cycle Network No 14 runs through the park, and there are two visitor centres with cafés, two bird hides, public toilets and seven car parks.
The vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne is only 6 miles away, where you can experience some real ’Geordie’ hospitality whilst soaking in the atmosphere along popular Grey Street, oozing character with the Theatre Royal and a wonderful selection of bars and restaurants for all ages.
