The hidden gem of Canyon Lake

Beautiful property with everything you need on site! Close enough to everything be convenient, but far enough away to offer unmatched peace and quiet. The direct river access is a dream come true for those with a kayak or paddle board to get out and enjoy the water. The guest house, home of the 2nd queen size bed, is a perfect divider for families who may want a little more privacy :)

Beautiful Main House

My wife and I stayed in the Guest House, so our review is for that. We had a great experience, but there was no hot water to shower, no hair dryer anywhere in either house, and nowhere to hang clothes in the guest house.

Needs improvement

Multiple problems, some of which were addressed and some that were not. Dishwasher was heavily encrusted with calcium or lime. We purchased and used a cleaner before we used the dishwasher. General cleanliness and maintenance only poor. Appears to have a septic system problem, as the odor was very strong by each evening which kept us from enjoying the outdoors. The grill was filthy, but that was rectified very nicely. We saw at least a dozen palmetto bugs. Needs deep cleaning with an eye to detail. Could use updating. Photos on line very misleading.

DO NOT STAY HERE

- Guest house infested with fleas. Realized after my fiance and I dropped off our bags inside and had FLEAS ALL OVER OUR LEGS. - 1 of the 3 rooms in main house was filthy and had mysterious stains on mattress (however house keeping cleaned this after I called and I was very grateful) - Had to accommodate by buying air mattresses bc guests had already arrived and we had already set up dinner for our guests - 1 of only 2 toilets began overflowing and had to be shut off manually - 4 toilet paper rolls for 11 people over 3 days! It was 9pm by the time I spoke on the phone with someone and given the option to relocate but it was too late. I had already spent money on air mattresses, everyone was there, dinner was served, I was told we would receive compensation for the troubles. I’ve reached out 4 times and received texts saying “Management has been notified… they will be in touch with you this week.” Well its about to be 3 weeks since we were there and I have yet to speak with someone about the compensation. Dirty. Unreliable. The place looks like it needed an upgrade 10 years ago. The stove vent and light is made for a 7ft tall giant, several roaches inside, fleas, not enough towels, broken toilet, not enough toilet paper, a single 3oz bottle of dish soap, low water pressure, yellow ice in freezer.

Nice House/Good Service

We enjoyed our stay. The main bedroom bathroom sink was clogged when we got there. The management team got someone out there within a few hours to fix. Worked fine for the next three days. Overall we had a great experience.

Very nice river house

House was great. Check in was a little tedious, but hey it’s run by a rental company. Plenty of room and the extra guest house was perfect for a young couple. Very nice deck with plenty of seating. Kitchen was nice with the exception of the fridge not making enough ice. Bedrooms and bedding decent. Bathrooms clean but kinda limited on towels and toilet paper. The main house dryer prob needs maintenance or replacement, but guest house dryer worked just fine. Parking was great. Neighborhood was very quiet and close to plenty of fine establishments like goofy’s bar/restaurant. As other reviewers commented River is extra cold due to the proximity to canyon lake dam. Just be aware especially for younger children it can be off putting. As seasoned river rats we managed this but for the faint of heart be heedful. Over all stay was nice and worth the cost.

July 4 family get together

Separate living area further away from main house than expected . River water colder than down stream made it less desirable to get in River at House . Stove vent knob to turn on was too high to easily reach . Those were my criticisms of place. On the other hand setting was picturesque Long tables were great for family meals .
