Das Fluss Hutte (The River Cabin) is a cozy camp cabin located along the scenic Guadalupe River just north of the Second Crossing on River Road. Plenty of room to sleep 8(max of 8 persons allowed on the property at any time). With 51 feet of river frontage and just down from 'the chute', Das Fluss Hutte is located on one of the most picturesque and convenient spots on the Guadalupe. Walking distance to 3 outfitters to meet all your floating needs. Centrally located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Das Fluss Hutte is the perfect 'base camp' for you to float the river, see live entertainment, explore the fantastic shopping in downtown New Braunfels and Gruene, sight seeing, dining and experience outdoor adventures. Or, if you prefer, the perfect spot to just sit back on the riverbank in the shade and watch the Guadalupe flow by and enjoy the abundant ducks, geese, deer, fish and occasional flock of wild turkeys and the 100+ year old cypress and pecan trees. The newly refurbished and expanded deck features a 16 foot long bar with bar stools to enjoy your coffee early in the morning to watch and hear the river wake up in the quiet mornings. This is an extremely cute little place right on the river! John is an amazing host!! He met our group upon arrival to explain things. He was readily available and always willing to help and give tips and advice. He went above and beyond. Even called to check on us when the weather got bad and we hadn’t made it back to camp yet! The ONLY reason I took away one star is because it got pretty warm at night. Small window units had a hard time keeping up. The one upstairs kept cutting off and the people staying upstairs got sweaty at night. Otherwise it is a great place to stay. Kitchen was adequately supplied and the fridge kept things nice and cold. Would definitely recommend staying here.

It was great for our yearly girls trip. The location on the river is perfect. There is shade from the trees hanging over the river, so you don’t have to pack the extra canopy.

Great Family Get Away

Beautiful well kept grounds and house. It feels like visiting your Oma and Opa’s River cabin. Charming and very comfortable. Right on the river making it a great pace to float, toss a football, and relax in your camping chair. On our last evening we were able to enjoy the fire pit while playing Uno at the picnic table. Plenty of wildlife to watch as well. The host is very welcoming and informative. We highly recommend.

The location is excellent, either for its direct river access (mainly for floating) and right in the heart of local activities, mainly tubing. The cabin is modest in terms of furnishings, bedding, and amenities -- on par for a country cabin -- but comfortable and quiet and spacious. Take a little extra care to watch your head and your step. Most visitors to the area camp along the main road, so having a cabin with multiple window-unit ACs right along the water is a relative luxury. The owner advice was spot on -- we used the local tour company he recommended up the street, and had a fantastic and memorable day of tubing, concluding with some of the best burgers. We had a great time, no problems or issues to complain of, and would happily recommend this cabin to others.

Restful river retreat

We stayed four nights in mid August with our family of four before the kids (10 & 12) had to start school again. We found the property to be accurately described and well taken care of. Owner/host, John, was easy to communicate with and super helpful. Honestly, he was more of a concierge than a VRBO host in his response time and travel suggestions. Thank you for a lovely stay and tell Barney “hi”.

Cozy cabin by the river

Overall enjoyed my stay at Das Fluss Hutte! Perfect location! Walking distance to lone star float house (~8 min). If you bring your own floats you can float your way back to the cabin. John (host) was very helpful! Cabin had a grill and fire pit on site for use. Plenty of seating outside to enjoy the scenery. Perfect place to have a relaxing weekend getaway.

The property was as described. The cabin was decorated so cute and the beds were comfortable. John gave helpful information regarding floating the river and his recommendation for the best burger on the river from Lonestar Float house was spot on! We will be booking here again!

Peaceful Getaway

Our stay was great. It’s conveniently placed 5 minutes from a tubing outfitter with shuttles and a place to eat. Every morning we enjoyed our breakfast on the patio watching hummingbirds, deer, ducks, and geese right there in the backyard. John is a very respectable host and an all around good person. Our group has already said if we come back, this is the place.

The inside of the house and rooms was smaller than what we thought before we arrived, but there was still plenty of room for us to enjoy our trip. The area was beautiful and the view was great. The owner was very helpful and did ensure that our trip was worry free and fun.
