My husband and I first stayed at the Royal for our honeymoon in 2021 (a year after our wedding due to COVID), and we absolutely loved our experience. We recently returned in 2026 to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary and even brought along some family members for their first visit. Between 2021 and this most recent trip, I recommended the Royal to just about everyone I knew I truly couldn’t say enough good things about it.
Unfortunately, this visit left me feeling disappointed.
While I understand that prices have increased, with VAT and gratuity now added to everything, I was more than willing to pay based on the exceptional experience and hospitality we previously received. However, I did notice a significant decline in service compared to our first stay.
Throughout our time there whether leaving our room, grabbing coffee, enjoying lunch by the pool or beach, or dining in the restaurants the staff did not seem as welcoming or engaged. In the past, what stood out most was how kind, soft-spoken, and genuinely warm the employees were. They made an effort to connect with guests and truly understood that we were there to relax and escape from our daily lives. This time, that feeling was largely missing.
Additionally, the ongoing construction made it difficult to fully relax in our room during the day, which took away from the overall experience.
