Against The Wind Side B, Oceanfront Home, Awesome view of Garden City Pier

Against the Wind B is a five-bedroom, four-bath oceanfront duplex located 0.1 miles south of Garden City Pier. This property features a fully-equipped kitchen complete with granite counters, stainless steel appliances including a microwave, dishwasher, and built-in refrigerator ice maker, as well as a washer, dryer, and central heat and air conditioning. Four flat-screen LCD TVs (40-inch TV/DVD combo in master), four DVD players, and Wi-Fi are also provided. Sleeping accommodations include one king and two queen-sized beds, two twin-over-double bunk bed sets, and two queen sofa beds. The outdoor living space features a covered oceanfront porch furnished with rocking chairs, outdoor shower, and picnic table. This property is great for large families or family reunions. Rent both sides of the duplex (Against the Wind A & B) for a total of 10 bedrooms. An exterior door connects the two oceanfront balconies for easy access to either side. This property is a duplex. No smoking. No pets. Maximum occupancy: 16

Conveniently located close to some of the best area attractions, Garden City Beach is directly south of Surfside Beach and ends on a peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. One of the most renowned attractions in Garden City Beach is the Pier at Garden City. Other points of interest include Marlin Quay Marina and restaurants Sara J's Seafood Restaurant, Gulfstream Café, and Original Sam's Corner.

Just south of Garden City Beach is Murrells Inlet, a seaside community considered the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina" and home to some of the nation's best golf courses. Once primarily a fishing village, the town is best known for the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, a half-mile-long boardwalk overlooking a pristine salt marsh, and the many award-winning restaurants along Highway 17 Business in the central business district.

Brookgreen Gardens, a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve built on four former rice plantations, is located slightly south of the MarshWalk. It features several themed gardens with American figurative sculptures, trails through several nature reserve ecosystems, and the Lowcountry Zoo.

If you're looking for places to shop, The Market Common, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, two Tanger shopping outlets, Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade, and many more shopping facilities are all within an easy drive from Garden City Beach.

Looking for entertainment and attractions? Take in a show at Pirates Voyage, Medieval Times, Alabama Theater, The Carolina Opry, or Legends in Concert. Then visit SkyWheel Myrtle Beach, Ripley's Aquarium, WonderWorks, Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium, Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center, and The Pavilion Nostalgia Park.

Other points of interest close by include the waterfront community of Georgetown, the third oldest city in South Carolina and the second largest seaport in South Carolina, and historic Conway, with its downtown Riverwalk area nestled on the banks of the Waccamaw River. Both towns include fine dining, shopping, and historic sites.

SC beach vacation

The location can’t be beat. Unfortunately, that doesn’t out way the negatives we encountered during our stay. The house has very few “extra’s”. The one and only knife was too dull to peel an apple. The pans are either unusable or too small to be useful. There were palmetto bugs and most likely roaches found throughout the house during our stay. That may be normal for a beach house I don’t know. The smoke alarm went off one afternoon. I called maintenance they came out and fixed it( per the tag they left). The alarm went off again that night at 2:00 am, not fixed. The outdoor garbage was overflowing and covered with ants and fly’s when we arrived. It was not picked up during our stay and had quite the odor by the time we left, 5 days later. The vents appeared to have mold in them. The patio door also appears to have mold along the tracks. The door is difficult to open/shut and should be replaced. We did appreciate the professionally cleaned and packaged bedding and the kits of soap, shampoo, etc. in each bathroom.

Treated like criminals at check in

At checkin at Garden City Realty, I was accused of falsifying the contract and told in a threatening manner that the owners did NOT rent to 'my type'. Two women took the packet to the back while I was left waiting. Then 3 LARGE men came out and tried to intimidate me into leaving. I was called a liar and they demanded all of my guests come in and hand over their licenses to be vetted. They finally relented and said our background checks were ok and gave us the code to check in. As we were leaving, one of the large men said they would be watching us and if we did anything wrong that they would kick us out, not let us gather our belongings and no refund. They tried to scare us into leaving. I'd paid 3 months in advance and filled out the contract with all of the information on my guests and all was ACCURATE. It was an unbelievable experience that I will never forget. I did absolutely everything perfectly and honestly on the contract, 3 MONTHS ahead of time and at checkin I am treated like a criminal in front of my friends. I am still shocked that a business would treat customers so unprofessionally. My friends are all educated professionals who plan to report this to the BBB and the C of C. The unit was fine, and matched the photos. The location was great. If not for the threats at checkin it would have been a very nice vacation. But Garden City Realty ruined it. I thought you should know.

Better than expected

Roomier than the pictures made it seem. We enjoyed the endless activities that are located conveniently close to the property. Peaceful and exciting to satisfy all the members in our group. This vacation was a perfect fit for us!!!

Dirty!!!

This property needed serious attention. We covered the couches with sheets just to sit on them. Sand caked in the corners of the stairs. We bought new comforters because the ones available had to be from the 70’s! They were disgusting! We found earrings and q-tips beneath the sheets! Not worth the money!

Had to wash dishes and cookware prior to using. Rattan headboard is full of dust. Lots of dust under both couches. House could use a thorough cleaning. Beach was awesome. Location was good.

Chairs on balcony were not stable to sit in.some lower pickets were loose on stairs.found old bag of chips under sink.ants were bad in master bedroom.called maintainance but cancelled.because we didnt want to spray around our grandkids.

Good location but be warned

It really is a good location,smack dab next to garden city pier. So walking distance to lots of stuff but this also means that traffic is kind of an issue and traffic sounds. Or karaoke sounds from the pier lol. Steps from the beach. Downsides to make you aware of would be cost of linen is more than the average and the Internet is not good. When we called about it we were told that “everyone usually uses their own data”. The library 8 min away has great internet though. Mattresses worn bad and need to be replaced and back door needs a screen so you can listen to ocean without bugs. Most of this is trivial and they can improve on

Awesome Vacation Rental

We enjoyed our stay at this beach rental. It was close to the pier in Garden City. A live band on one end and karaoke on the other end. Great view of the ocean. Great customer service on a maintenance issue. Very prompt response. I would suggest adding a grill for outdoor cooking. Overall very happy.
