The Pines in Christmas - Near Pictured Rocks

Pictured Rocks Family Rentals welcomes you to The Pines! Quaint lakefront cottage on Furnace Lake. It is conveniently located right off M28 in Christmas, less than 5 miles from downtown Munising, the beginning of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There are 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Our cottage offers 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, and 2 full beds. Come up to enjoy Pictured Rocks & numerous waterfalls in the area. Only 2 blocks from Christmas ORV/snowmobile trailhead.
Central air conditioning was added to the home in the summer of 2021. The second bedroom here is a little odd, it used to be a jacuzzi tub room. The jacuzzi tub was removed, and now there is a bed in there. The room still has a toilet and sink in it. We have added a curtain to block toilet view from bed. While it is unusual, we think it is worth keeping having an extra lavatory for larger groups. The home has a beautiful view (especially for evening sunsets!) overlooking Furnace Lake and is very quiet and peaceful. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do :) Up to 2 dogs are allowed with preapproval, but there is a $75 nonrefundable pet charge that will need to be added. We added a tankless water heater in January 2024, now there is unlimited hot water, so nobody has to dread being the last one to take a shower :)

Guests have full access to the home, garage, red outbuilding next to garage, and yard. The red outbuilding near the road is not available to guests.

We live nearby if you should need anything but will not come over unless asked to. If you have any questions or concerns, please message through the app or call me if an emergency.

The neighborhood is an area of cottages and year-round homes. It is quiet and private, and quiet time is from 10 pm to 8 am. The home is within walking distance to Foggy's Steakhouse, Kewadin Casino and gas station/party store. The trailhead for area ATVs/snowmobiles is only 2 blocks away and can be ridden to from home.

-Signed rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations. Primary guest will need to send a picture of government issued ID and list names and ages of all other guests in their group.
-No parties or events allowed
-Quiet time is from 10 pm to 8 am
-No smoking allowed in the home, outside and in garage is ok. Please dispose of butts. $250 fine for smoking inside home
-There is an exterior audio/video recording security device that is on 24/7. It is motion activated and faces the entry doors going into home and the side garage entry door.

Perfect location, clean, and amazing host

The house is on a beautiful private lake that is so peaceful in the morning. They have such a great setup and left little things like dog dishes out for us to use which I think goes a long way. The little details they make sure to include so it feels just like home. Literally 2 mins from Christmas and 10 from Muinising. Our host was so responsive and quick to answer any questions we had. Definitely will stay again !

Fabulous Fall Getaway

My husband and I (and our doggy) spent an AMAZING three days of R&R at The Pines. The weather was not super cooperative but the house and its location made up for everything. The fall colors and the view from the backyard area were breathtaking. Easy casting from the dock. Pictured rocks tours not happening due to high winds - no problem, the hikes and scenic views were fine. We wished we could have used the fire pit- no problem, we cozied up in the house with the fireplace and Trivial Pursuit. Rainy and chilly - no problem, the fully stocked kitchen I was able to make some beef stew after a walk to and from a very quick loss at the casino. The host checked in and was readily available if needed. Would recommend this lovely spot for a couple, several couples, or a family. It was perfect!

Beautiful area, great accommodations

The pictures do not do this cabin justice! Cabin is clean, cozy and comfortable! Especially loved the outdoor space. Large yard and very private. Cooked all meals in the kitchen (10 days) and found it very adequate. I would highly recommend this property!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Pines. Well stocked kitchen, very comfortable beds and very nice furniture. Outdoor swing overlooking little Furnace Lake was nice. Danielle responded quickly to any questions I had. Very good experience!

Anniversary Trip

My husband & I stayed here for 3 nights! We had an amazing time & Danielle was wonderful to work with. Loved being so close to pictured rocks with so many things to do. We also loved fishing on the lake, especially my hubby! Would definitely book again. Great trails for riding arc’s from the house, major bonus!

Nice place in Munising

Our family of 6 and 2 dogs stayed at the property in late August 2024. The house was clean and had everything we needed, including a rowboat. We spent some time on the little lake and explored the Munising area and beyond.

Loved it!

What a great place to stay! The kitchen is well equipped...like being in my own home. comfortable beds and furniture. Had fun making smores at the fire pit. Thanks for the fire wood. Lots of wild life to watch. Good view of the stars.

Peaceful place to get away

Cozy, clean, and comfortable place. We enjoyed the lake view, trees, and wildlife. Catching perch and pike was a bonus. Easy drive to Munising for the pictured rock tours and other attractions. Overall, a great place to stay to relax and unwind.

Great place to stay for a Pictured Rocks visit

We loved the location on the lake and took advantage of the rowboat to go out on the lake. It is an easy trip to Munising to see the sights and to Marquette. The cottage was very clean and well stocked for everything we needed. The sleeping porch was particularly nice to wake up and look out at the lake

Excellent Cottage

This property is wonderful. Fishing off the dock and sunset watching in the evening are just a couple perks. Property is pet friendly and our dog was a happy camper here! The host was wonderful and even offered a kennel if we didn’t want to travel with ours. Close to all the Picture Rocks excursions you may want to do. We would for sure rent again if we come back to the area. And, the bed in the main room was amazing! Best sleep we’ve had in a long time!

Wonderful home

We had a great time at The Pines. The hosts were very responsive to questions, the house has everything you could possibly need (including some nice homey touches) and the beds are comfy! We were there in the buggy season so did not use the outdoor spaces. We were very thankful for that big sunroom/porch to enjoy coffee and happy hour before and after our outings. Overall a great stay!

Perfect in Christmas

Wow! I can’t express how much I was blown away with this property! It’s perfect! Spacious yet cozy, very convenient yet felt remote. Has literally EVERYTHING you could possibly need. Very comfy beds. I loved it here, and will be back. And my dog loved it as well!

Busy days quiet nights

During the middle of the days we were busy sight seeing and exploring the towns, but the mornings and evenings were beautiful and quiet at the cabin. The color of the fall leaves would reflect off the lake and coffee time was wonderful just staring out at the scenery. The nights were the same with a full moon, and the camp fire was relaxing while having a local brewed beverage

Comfy and Convenient!

We stayed here with our 2 pups to enjoy beautiful Lake Superior and do some hiking. This home is well-appointed, has everything you could possibly need. We have stayed at many VRBOs and have not experienced one that had everything you need in the kitchen, as well as plenty of towels, hand soap, trash bags etc. The s’mores kit was a lovely touch! Location is perfect, about 5 minutes from a beautiful beach with crystal clear water and easy access to hiking and sites like Miner’s Castle. This is a great place and we will be back!

Felt right at home

This rental was very cozy and spacious. Had many amenities. Beds were comfortable to sleep in. I usually wake up with a crick in my neck when not sleeping in my own bed, but thankfully, I never did here. The location was in between everywhere we visited and extremely easy to find. Loved that it had well water and not chemicalized city water. And I can't praise our host Danielle enough. She went above and beyond with the quick replies to our questions. We ran out of propane within the first day of our stay, and she was over with a full tank before I could blink haha! Silver lining is that I was able to meet her face-to-face and have a pleasant chat with her for a bit. We all highly recommend staying at this rental or any of their other ones just based on the perfect hospitality we experienced. Thanks bunches, Danielle, for making our stay very comfortable and fun (paddleboating and taking out the row boat on the lake). (:

Wonderful Vacation Home and great location!

My family of 4 plus our dogs stayed for almost a week while we explored Grand Island and Pictured Rocks. The house was perfect and was only a mile or so from the ferry to Grand Island! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, and we loved the extra touch of dog bowls and smores kit! My 11 and 14 yo really loved the beds on the porch. They had the best views of the lake feom their beds. The master bedroom was wonderful! We loved the matress so much we are looking to replace ours at home with the same😁 We ate our meals outside on the patio, even though the kitchen could fit an army! The swing was perfect for my husband and I to enjoy quite cup of coffee in the mornings. This home was perfect! We hope to rent it anytime we come back to the Munising area.

Perfect Location for Exploring this Area

This location was PERFECT! Close proximity for visiting the island, kayaking, hiking, and going to the beach. We cooked all of our meals, and the kitchen was generously stocked w everything we needed. The owners checked in via email to see that we had everything we needed. Needs were anticipated and expectations were met. Quiet location, beautiful view, comfortable beds, house temps were very comfortable. We will be booking here for a return trip to this lakeshore!
