The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, rugged cliffs, wide white sandy beaches, and hiking trails. During the summer months, guided hikes are offered that lead through the “Zickersche Alpen,” forested dune belts, and across the meadows of the countryside. The Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve is home to many rare plants, such as a protected species of orchid.
The past still plays a major role in picturesque Middelhagen today. Right next to St. Catherine’s Church, built around 1455, stands the School Museum. Here, you can't only gain insight into how students were taught and lived in the one-room schoolhouse of that era, but also take part in a historical school lesson. And if you do well and participate actively in class, you’ll even receive a report card.

As guests at this vacation rental, you and your traveling companions have free admission (up to 3 hours daily) to the AHOI! water park with a large sauna area in the neighboring town of Sellin. There is NO swimming pool and NO sauna in the vacation rental itself.
