A lovely house in a beautiful location surrounded by nature. Several families stayed there, so there was more than enough space to enjoy ourselves. The house is a bit dated. For the number of beds, it has relatively small dining tables and sitting areas. The pans in the kitchen need replacing. A loose spindle in the stair railing was dangerous, especially with our small children.

Family Reunion

This was a central location for our family to get together and had enough beds. The surroundings were beautiful. There were 19 of us. There were only 6 chairs for the dining table and 2 stools. The couch had spring poking out of the cushions and one of the bed frames was broken. Otherwise it was very nice. It was close to several activities.

Not as expected

This house is not equipped for large groups. There are bats living in the attic and the poop is all over the front porch. There was a wasp nest in the hot tub area. The deck wood is rotten needs repair. There is plenty of parking. There are not enough outside furniture for a large group. The grill had gas but only worked on one side and had not been cleaned from the last group. Inside the table seats 8 and there was 2 barstools. The living room had 3 chairs and a couch. Again not enough seating. There was not enough flatware, no wine glasses, no working can opener. The pans for cooking were old and not safe for cooking. The mattresses are old and stained. When I contacted Vacasa, they told me i would have to purchase pans, flatware and a can opener. The refrigerator did not keep the food cold and the ice maker did not work. The internet is intermittent. The most gross finding was the hundreds of dead bugs in the dining room chandelier. I have pics☹️ So we drank wine out of coffee cups, bought flatware, can opener and a pie plate from Walmart. Bought a ton of ice. And made the best of it. Overall, the house just needs some attention and is not equipped for more than 8.

1. WiFi is trash 2. Floors are stained 3. Fridge doesn’t get cold 4. Ac doesn’t work 5. Bugs everywhere 6. House needs a facelift 7. Tv and electronics from the 90s. Overall horrible experience. Never staying here again

Excellent weekend getaway

Our group really enjoyed our time at the cabin. The hot tub was a big hit. The pool table was fun, but it needs leveling. We did have to bring our own pool cue tips since only one stick was playable. The second day we had to get a repairman to come out and fix a toilet and the dishwasher, but that was handled promptly and without interruption to our trip. I was really impressed that the bathrooms were fully stocked and that there was plenty of hot water. Lastly the check out process was simple. Overall, I'd recommend this spot.

Our stay was very nice. The set up of the house is great for a large group with multiple kids and families. That said, the property could use some TLC and a good deep clean.

Family Christmas

Over all a great time with family Comfortably slept 14. Three couples and with a couple other adults and several young adults Kitchen large enough to accommodate cooking meals for all. Did not eat out once while there 4 days. Dining table only large enough for 8 Living is large. Used gas fireplace daily Views are great. From living room and porches. Pool table was used extensively along with hot tub. There is a lot to do in the small towns around but only went out once. Bowling at Fannin Bowling Lanes. Highly suggested we had a blast. No real complaints just comments. Dishwasher did not clean well. Maybe time for upgrade. Same for oven. Food took much longer and higher temps to cook than normal. Living room only enough seating for 6. But that’s not a big deal. Brought kitchen chairs in and sat on floor. WiFi is not great but was actually nice kept people off phones for the most part. Would definitely book again if we do large family trip to this area another time.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and fit our large family perfectly. It was also in a great location. We had a minor hiccup, a dog had drug out all the trash, but someone was out in a couple hours to get it up. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Great Family Space!

We loved our stay! A lot of space for us to spread out in. The beds were comfy and everything was tidy when we got there. Two things that would be great additions would be an additional fridge or freezer and an additional propane tank. The one that was there didn’t work so it would have been good to have a backup. Thanks again for providing us a home conducive to a great, big family get-together.

Overall we had a Ball

Overall my family and I had a great time. It was 17 of us and we enjoyed ourselves. We ran out of tissue, only 1 TV was working and we didn't have sharp knives for the food we were cooking, but overall we had a blast. The only other complaint my family has was that the beds were hard for the little time we did sleep.

Family vacation

This cabin was perfect for our family of 13 as far as bedrooms were concerned. Unfortunately, the cabin lacks seating in the main area. If the cabin can sleep 22 you really need to provide more comfortable seating in the main room. It is definitely big enough. There was only one sofa and two chairs (seating for 5). Putting a large sectional in there would have helped. We had to bring chairs in from outside. Also, we did not have heat on the main or bottom level the whole week. One morning it was 56 degrees inside the house. Luckily the fireplace worked great and we all huddled around that most of the time. They did send someone out but it wasn't fixed. I have read multiple reviews since we booked this that the air/heat are an issue. In addition, if you rent this place be prepared to bring your own toilet paper, trash bags, dishwasher soap, etc. There was NO extra of any of these things - one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom for a whole week is not sufficient, as well as two trash bags, two dishwasher soap packets. Also a chair and a table were broken and I had read in another review that this was an issue and it says it was fixed - they were NOT. This cabin has a lot of potential but I feel like the caretakers put off issues from one guest to the next. So book with caution.

Major disappointment!

Overall the listing is pretty accurate....though It should be noted that there is no fire pit if you were looking forward to having a campfire. The only place to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air is on the porch. We only stayed for the weekend so the last night when we went to get in the hot tub we took the cover off and it smelled horrible. Too bad for us...it was late so we didn't get to enjoy that. The carpet is horrible and needs to be replaced. The place looks like a party house. The bedding is shabby. Each bed has a sheet and a nasty looking comforter. We found 1 extra blanket in the entire place. The bed in the master didn't even have a fitted sheet so nothing stayed on the bed. I'm very disappointed as I was entertaining customers for the weekend and it was kind of embarrassing! And for what we paid $3600 roughly for 2 nights....there is no way we would stay here again.

Good experience. Need a big “L” shaped couch in living area to accommodate big groups, and maybe a couple of side chairs too. I would suggest ceiling fans in all rooms since the sun is strong in the afternoon.

Southern Cross Lodge was a nice dwelling for our family of 21. There were enough bedrooms and sleeping quarters to accommodate everyone. There were a few glitches when we first arrived, garbage had not been picked up from previous guests, all the pool sticks were broken and no foosball for the foosball table. Each of these things were taken care of very quickly. There are a few things that should be corrected or seen about to make it more appealing. For instance, the Christmas wreath should be removed from the door - it is July; the shrubbery around the front should be trimmed and maintained to give it a groomed look; the carpet going down into game room desperately needs cleaning; a patio table and chairs would be a nice addition on the deck off the game room; the bed sheets should be upgraded to a higher thread count; the kitchen small appliances , pots and pans should be inventoried, checked to make sure they work and arranged so that they are easy to find. These are a few minor changes that I feel would help the overall appearance and feel. I would definitely stay there again. We may need more rooms by that time, so if the unfinished rooms off of the game room are completed it would be a nice addition, since my family is growing. Thanks so much for offering your lodge to be rented out. Our stay was good.

Church Trip

Everything was up to par for the most part. The only issues were that one of the jets in the main bathroom jacuzzi did not work and there was a crushed roach in the middle of same bathroom. Looks like someone forgot to clean up after themselves. Also, the main bedroom toilet may need an adjustment for a heavier flush. Watch out for the wasps nests on the porch area. The positives outweigh the negatives though. Great view on the main side, amenities were sufficient, towels were plentiful and clean, garbage gentleman was friendly, temperature was on point, access was sufficient, parking was enough, we fit 2 cargo vans and 3 cars, neighbors were friendly and we city dwellers got to see a wild turkey. Beds were comfortable and rooms spacious enough. Great job staying attentive to the needs of your guests.
