Wake up to breathtaking river views from the master bedroom and unwind in the cozy living room, complete with a stone gas log fireplace. Step outside and soak in the scenery from the screened-in deck hot tub or gather around the fire pit on the stone patio for an evening of roasting marshmallows. With a private boat dock and provided kayaks, adventure awaits right at your doorstep (don't forget your life jackets!). The fully fenced yard offers a safe haven for your furry friends, while the modern, fully stocked kitchen with stainless steel appliances makes meal preparation a breeze. When you're ready to explore, you're just a short drive from downtown Mentone, Desoto State Park, and Cloudland State Park, offering endless opportunities for outdoor recreation and scenic exploration.

    Guests will be required to complete a rental agreement, provide a valid photo ID, and submit a refundable damage deposit hold. This property welcomes up to 2 dogs with prior approval and applicable pet fee.

Wonderfull Stay

Our stay at The Shire was wonderful! The cabin is nice and cozy and the location is perfect. I love all the extra touches and how the cabin is so welcoming, even for our fur baby. In addition to the fenced yard, there was a cute bed and bowls waiting just for him. I can’t say enough great things, We will definitely be back!

July 4th stay

We absolutely loved our stay at The Shire! The fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs. We loved the direct water access and we kayaked for hours. The house had everything we needed. We will certainly come back again.

Very Charming Cottage.

The Shire was the perfect stay for a few getaway days. Home was cozy, clean and all we needed. The Little River Canyon falls trail was an amazing adventure. We visited three different antique stores and a variety of specialty shops on one of our rainy days. My husband and I highly recommend visiting this area, lots of scenic views and historic sites. Book your accommodations at The Shire, it’s definitely a win win😊

Great property, great communication

We enjoyed this riverfront cabin, and the fenced in yard was perfect for our dog. The property manager was also easy to deal with, and helped us facilitate a late-notice date change with no fuss.Only good things to say! We plan on returning in the future.

A great weekend

We really enjoyed our stay! Even though there was a burn ban and a drought, we relaxed in the hot tub, hiked in Desoto Park, visited arts & crafts events, went antique shopping, and ate local. The fenced in yard was a plus for our dogs. A perfect getaway to celebrate our 27 year anniversary.

The Shire Weekend Getaway

My husband and I stayed at The Shire with our two miniature Dachshunds. Upon arrival we were amazed at all the detail the owner had taken to ensure a relaxing time away from home. The home and amenities are gorgeous. A much needed getaway - thank you for a wonderful time.

Rustic but quaint

The house being located near Mentone, and Little River in the back yard for fishing were nice features. We ate at a couple good places in Mentone and had two state parks less than an hour away to go hiking.
