Little River Family Retreat was made for families and friends who want to spend time together—with enough room to spread out when they want a little space of their own.

Start your morning with coffee in a rocking chair. Spend the afternoon exploring the property, relaxing by Little River or discovering Mentone. Gather around a fire in the evening, play a board game, or settle onto the screened porch in front of the wood-burning fireplace and listen to the woods around you.

With sleeping space for up to 16 guests, 5 king beds, 4.5 bathrooms, three fireplaces, three porches, two outdoor fire pits, multiple gathering areas and six wooded acres, there’s plenty of room for everyone to settle in.

And while you’re here, keep your eyes open for the BEARS! 🐻 They’re hiding throughout the cabin in some unexpected places. See how many your family can find—but don’t ask us how many there are. We’re not telling!

SLEEPING & BATHROOM ARRANGEMENTS

One of the things that makes Little River Family Retreat especially comfortable for a larger group is the sleeping arrangement. Instead of relying primarily on bunk beds, the property offers five king beds, plus a queen and additional twin sleeping options.

MAIN LEVEL

The main level is especially convenient for guests who prefer not to climb stairs.

Having two king bedrooms and two full bathrooms on the main level works especially well for couples, grandparents and multi-generational families.

UPSTAIRS

Upstairs you’ll find:

* Private bedroom with king bed and twin bunk above
* Loft with twin daybed and twin trundle
* Full bathroom with shower
* Half bath directly across the hall

The loft gives children, teens or additional guests their own cozy sleeping spot while still being close to the upstairs bedrooms.

CREEKSIDE QUARTERS

Creekside Quarters is our lower-level space with its own outside entrance, giving part of your group a little extra room while keeping everyone together on the same property.

It is one spacious, open-concept area rather than two separate bedrooms. The sleeping areas are located on opposite ends of the space, with curtains that can be drawn for additional privacy.

Creekside Quarters includes:

* Queen bed with twin trundle underneath on the opposite end
* Private full bathroom
* Comfortable living area

* Smart TV

* Kitchenette and coffee area

It’s a great arrangement for a family or couple who would enjoy having a little additional space of their own.

PLENTY OF ROOM TO GATHER—AND SPREAD OUT

One of our favorite things about this cabin is that a group of 16 doesn’t have to spend the entire vacation piled into one room.

There are multiple living and gathering spaces throughout the property, along with Smart TVs in every bedroom and living-room space.

The main kitchen gives you plenty of room to prepare family meals, while Creekside Quarters has its own kitchenette. You’ll also find several places throughout the cabin to sit down together for meals, conversation, cards or board games.

Our coffee area has starter coffee—including ground coffee and K-cups—along with sugar, creamer, honey and flavorings to help get that first mountain morning started right.

THREE PORCHES & THREE FIREPLACES

Around here, the porches may become your favorite rooms in the house.

Our screened porch has rocking chairs, a large table and a wood-burning fireplace. It’s one of our favorite places for morning coffee, long conversations, family meals and cool Mentone evenings around the fire.

You’ll also find additional porch seating where you can simply sit back and enjoy the woods and mountain air.

The property has three fireplaces plus two outdoor fire pits, giving you plenty of choices for cozy evenings, s’mores and time together.

SIX PRIVATE WOODED ACRES + LITTLE RIVER

Step outside and you’ll understand why we fell in love with this property.

The cabin sits well back from the road on approximately six wooded acres, giving you a wonderful sense of privacy while still being close to Mentone.

Make your way down toward Little River, explore the property, sit by the water, listen to the birds or simply enjoy being surrounded by trees.

This is the kind of place where children can explore, adults can actually sit down for a while, and everyone can reconnect.

CLOSE TO THE BEST OF MENTONE

You’ll feel tucked away in the woods, but you’re still convenient to many of the things that make Mentone and Lookout Mountain special.

Explore Little River Canyon National Preserve, DeSoto State Park, waterfalls, Brow Park and scenic drives, or spend an afternoon browsing Mentone’s shops and local places to eat.

Some of our own favorites include Mentone Market and Wildflower Cafe, and there are plenty of other local spots to discover.

Little River Family Retreat is also a great home base for exploring more of Lookout Mountain or making a day trip to Chattanooga.

One little mountain tip: The cabin is in Alabama and operates on Central Time. Nearby Georgia and Chattanooga are on Eastern Time, so remember that you’ll jump ahead an hour when you cross the state line or head toward Chattanooga.

THE LITTLE THINGS

We want Little River Family Retreat to feel like more than simply a place to sleep.

You’ll find rocking chairs waiting on the porch, comfortable beds, board games for evenings together, coffee for the morning, bears hiding throughout the cabin and plenty of places to settle in with the people you came to see.

Our goal is for you to have both space and togetherness—room for everyone to gather around, but enough space to find a quiet spot when you’d like one.

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK

Little River Family Retreat accommodates a maximum of 16 registered guests.

Creekside Quarters is on the lower level and is accessed from outside the main cabin. It is an open-concept space with sleeping areas rather than two enclosed bedrooms. Curtains provide additional privacy.

Because this is a wooded river property, you may encounter wildlife during your stay. That’s part of life on the mountain, and we ask guests to enjoy our wild neighbors from a safe distance.

For the comfort and protection of our home and guests, we do not allow pets, smoking or vaping, parties or events, or motorized recreational vehicles on the property.
