The Space:
Faro Penthouse is the perfect beach escape, situated in the heart of Maunabo, Puerto Rico, and surrounded by the natural beauty of the Punta Tuna Wetlands Nature Reserve. This spacious three-bedroom, two-bathrooms penthouse offers stunning ocean views, a private outdoor terrace, and a front-row seat to the Punta Tuna Lighthouse. Faro Penthouse sleeps up to 6 guests in 1 queen bed, 1 full bed and 2 twin beds. It is fully air conditioned and includes 2 flat screen TVs, hi-speed wi-fi, washer/dryer, beach chairs, and parking for two vehicles.

Our complex boasts a range of amenities to elevate your stay. Take a dip in the pool, perfect your serve on the tennis courts, shoot hoops on the basketball court, or explore the historic Punta Tuna Lighthouse just a short 10-minute walk away. IMPORTANT NOTE: This property is located in the community called “Villas del Faro”, which does not legally require elevators in any buildings since they have a maximum of 3 floors. Please take this into consideration if you or a companion has any disabilities.

LIVING AREAS

Inside, you'll find a well-appointed living space. Faro Penthouse has an open concept layout that connects the living room, dining, kitchen, and an oceanfront balcony. The living room has a comfortable sofa and a flat screen TV. The dining area right next to the living room features a dining table for 6 guests with beautiful ocean views and access to the balcony.

Faro Penthouse has a private outdoor terrace that is accessed via the spiral staircase in the main level balcony. This penthouse terrace is the highlight of this rental. Lounge on the comfortable outdoor sofa, dine al fresco in the outdoor dining table, or simply unwind with the sound of the waves as your backdrop. It's the perfect spot for making memories with loved ones. The terrace also has two lounge chairs and a gas bbq. It is the perfect point to witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets with the stunning views.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

With three bedrooms, our penthouse comfortably sleeps six guests. The master bedroom boasts a queen-sized bed, an oceanfront furnished private balcony, a flat screen TV and an ensuite full bathroom. The second bedroom has a full-sized bed, while the third bedroom features two twin-sized beds. All bedrooms have AC and blackout curtains.

PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY):

We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability.

KITCHEN

Faro Penthouse has a clean, fully stocked, and comfortable kitchen. The kitchen has counter space with two seating stools. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, freezer, microwave oven, oven, stovetop, and coffee maker.

LOCATION

Our penthouse is situated in the heart of Maunabo, Puerto Rico, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Punta Tuna Wetlands Nature Reserve. Explore the historic Punta Tuna Lighthouse just a short 10-minute walk away, or venture further to discover the vibrant culture and cuisine of Puerto Rico.

Besides enjoying the beautiful villa and all amenities on offer, there are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites:

Chill at the beach! It is one of our favorite beaches in Puerto Rico and a must-do if you are staying at Faro Penthouse. The apartment has beach chairs, towels, and a cooler for a long day at the beach. The beach is just an 8-10 minute stroll.

Take a hike! This lush wetland reserve spans 1.4 miles of coastline, just north of the Faro Punta Tuna. Interpretive trails through the mangroves and along the beach impart interesting information about the ecology, flora and fauna, and a lookout tower makes it easier to spot wildlife, especially in the mornings.

Visit the historic Punta Tuna Lighthouse just a 10 minute walk away! The Punta Tuna Lighthouse was built in the 1890s by the Spanish government to serve the south-eastern coast of the Island. Sitting atop a small peninsula, the views from the lighthouse are some of the Island's best.

Go on a roadtrip to nearby beaches! Here you have the name of a few beaches we recommend nearby: El Cocal Beach, Balneario Playa Lucía, Playa Maunabo, Playa Bohio, Los Pinos Beach, Emajaguas Beach, and Playa Negra (great surfing beach).

GETTING AROUND

Renting a car is a must when staying at Faro Penthouse. The property includes two (2) assigned parking spots. You will need it to move around to nearby restaurants, shops, and the many beaches in the vicinity. Also you will want to have a car to explore the rest of the island. With 2 dedicated parking spaces, you'll have no trouble exploring the island at your leisure. Renting a car is a must if staying outside of the San Juan/Metro area.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, especially during the peak months of Hurricane Season, which are July to October. Travel insurance is inexpensive and will reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, this will depend on what the coverage purchased covers. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase. Disclaimer: we are not associated with any travel insurance companies.

AMENITIES

West Indies strives to deliver top-notch service and amenities to guarantee our guests feel at home while visiting our properties. All of our properties are outfitted with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach/pool towel per guest. Our properties typically include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler.
West Indies provides the disposable amenities necessary to get your vacation off to a comfortable start. These amenities include 1 set of hotel size soaps and shampoos per bathroom, 3 garbage bags, 1 roll of paper towel, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 dish soap, 1 dish sponge, and a small amount of laundry detergent. We do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is your responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock with whatever else may be needed for the duration of your stay.

HOUSE RULES

Check-in time is at 4:00 pm
Check-out time is at 11:00 am
NO SMOKING: Smoking is strictly prohibited. A smoking fee of $500 will be charged if violated.
NO PETS: No pets are allowed at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if violated and you will be expelled from the property.
Building quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please keep noise levels down during these hours out of respect to the neighbors.
Any pool pass lost will carry a $100 charge (per pass).
The host will not pay for a hotel, vacation rental, or transportation expenses incurred because of an interruption in water or electrical service. If water or electricity is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests have the option of canceling their reservation and requesting a refund for the nights not used. Under no circumstances will we refund consumed nights.
All bookings are contingent on signing a short-term rental agreement that will be sent via email. It must be signed within 48 hours of booking or before entering the property, whichever happens first.
Maximum occupancy of 6 adults/children at all times. This includes visitors.
Max. occupancy is strictly enforced and exceeding it may result in immediate cancellation of booking or being expelled from the property.
Towels and linens must only be used for their intended purpose. Do not stain them with food, grease, or any other substance. Do not use towels to clean up any mess. Stained towels/linens will be charged.
Subletting not allowed

Great VRBO for Puerto Rico vacation

This was my first international VRBO and you never know what you are going to get. I was pleasantly surprised. Check in was wonderful- had a little mishap with the code and Paola responded immediately and fixed it right away. House was quiet, clean and ACs worked well. It was very helpful to have a washer/dryer and full kitchen. There is a nice grocery store a few blocks away. The house provided some dishwasher and washing tablets, coffee, paper towels, shampoo/conditioner. All those provided items were very appreciated. Additionally, there was a cooler and two beach chairs provided. Basketball provided needs to be pumped up and one of the three chairs provided was broken. But, overall I was extremely pleased with this VRBO. Outdoor pool and basketball were used daily. Upstairs deck was quiet and beautiful. It's an hour drive to some of the more popular tourist attractions but my family did not mind the drive. I don't like crowds of tourists, and the beaches in this area are 100% worth it. We went to the black sand beach and kids loved jumping in the waves. Went to a beach in Manaubo and the sand was beautiful and we had the beaches all to ourselves. Highly recommend this place for your stay.

Family trip

We had an amazing time. The view is AMAZING!! Paola was very professional and attentive. The condo was comfortable, nicely decorated and clean. I very much appreciated the little details such as the coffee, laundry detergent pods, beach chairs, cooler, first aid kit, flashlight and fire extinguisher. The host thought of everything and that made the stay that much better. It shows that the host cares about making sure their guests are comfortable and getting the most out of their visit. The condo is on top of a mountain and you have to be careful getting up there because there are many potholes on the way. However, it is definitely worth the ride up. The view is like no other. My family and I ordered food from a local restaurant , Agua Viva, (the food was delicious) for Valentine's day and dined on the roof top of our condo with the gorgeous view in the background and the coquis serenading us. It was one of my favorite memories of this particular trip. I will absolutely stay here again. Thank you

Great getaway

We had a great time in Maunabo and this unit was as advertised. Convenient access to the Punta Tuna Reserve and beach. Utilize the gate by the pool to get there. The water is too rough to swim in, but we had plenty of fun playing in the sand and letting some waves crash on us at the shore. There are a bunch of cliff side restaurants in the area. The kitchen in the unit had enough equipment. We were able to cook breakfast most days and reheat some restaurant left overs. Amazing views of the sunrise from the rooftop terrace. Perfect way to start each day. Loved this part of the island. The beaches were nearly deserted and the condo complex was very quiet as well. Easy and responsive communication with the host. Check in is keyless. Check out was easy as well!Wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Great base in a beautiful location

We loved exploring Maunabo - the nearby nature reserve, beaches and lighthouse. This rental is a great base from which to do so. It is well equipped and clean, with a spectacular roof terrace with gorgeous views. It is ideal, except for those with mobility issues. There are 2 flights of stairs up to the main level and an additional flight up to the roof terrace. We really enjoyed our stay.

Has potential

This place has potential, but it fell short of what the pictures made it appear. One washcloth for 5 people. No hand soap in the bathrooms. Lights on the balcony, but no way to plug them in. Limited kitchen supplies. This place is located in a non-touristy area which had advantages, but also many disadvantages. The area is still recovering from hurricane damage. Getting to the beach and lighthouse was not as easy as they made it sound. With all that being said, it was a nice size and the outdoor space was a huge plus.

Beautiful views

Nice place to stay, beautiful views of sunset and rises and star gazing. No bugs! Close to a gorgeous beach but at the time we couldn't swim due to undertow and big waves. Beds were comfy. Easy check in and out. Gated community and nice pool area. Yummy restaurants near by!
