Solmar Apartment #6 comprises two 2 double bed bedrooms designed to accommodate up to 4 adults / children with a spectacular view over Marsascala’s characteristic fishing port and the open sea beyond.
Centrally located and set just back from the harbour front on a quiet non-thoroughfare street, the apartment offers calm and will allow you to enjoy Marsascala’s seaside location and its traditional relaxed social lifestyle making for a fascinating holiday for the whole family.
The apartment is just a 5 minute walk from the Marsaskala bus terminus from where you can reach all corners of Malta and Gozo in comfort and low cost without having to worry about driving or parking. We can organise rapid and efficient transfer from the airport to the apartment with immediate check in, obtain 7 day bus pass tickets for you. We can also organise bespoke private guided visits should you so require.
A butcher, baker, mini supermarkets, local fishermen (for the early riser) and fresh vegetable stalls are all within a stone’s throw, meaning that a car is not needed for everyday necessities.
The apartment is modernly furnished and has been finished to a high standard combining simple elegance and practical functionality that includes efficient and silent invertor technology AC units in each room that can also be used for heating in the colder months.
It is extremely light and airy and comprises an open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms equipped with generously dimensioned showers (the main bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom). The beds in each bedroom can be arranged as either a large king-sized double bed or separate 90 cm x 2 meter twin beds. The apartment’s master bedroom is large enough to add an extra child’s bed or cot if required. The orthopedic mattresses are comfortable and duvets, bed linen and towels are all supplied. A hair dryer is also provided in each apartment. For stays longer than 2 weeks, we will supply an extra set of clean bed linen.
The kitchen has been thought out so that it will be a pleasure should you prefer to stay in and dine al-fresco on the terrace admiring the evening view over the harbour. The all-electric kitchen is equipped with oven, microwave, induction hob, hood, toaster and kettle and of course a dishwasher to make you feel at home. In addition, each apartment has a clothes washing machine, clothes drying racks, iron and ironing board.
There is free internet / WiFi as well as it is equipped with a streaming device so that you can pick up many of your favourite channels. If you have subscriptions to streaming channels such as Amazon Prime or Netflix, please bring your User ID and Passwords with you so you can log on via the Android box.
A children’s play park with an impressive range of activities for various ages can be reached within 10 minutes on foot.
A number of water sports such as scuba diving, sailing, fishing are all to be found in the region.
For those interested in history, Valletta, the 3 Cities and the megalithic temples of Tarxien are all within 10 – 20 minutes by car.
A very pleasant and wide promenade running along the waterfront around the bay with its numerous restaurants and bars is particularly agreeable for an evening stroll. Along the way you will come across designated cordoned-off bathing areas with direct access to the sea from the flat rocks via short ladders. The water is crystal clear and its temperature is most welcoming from late Spring through to late Autumn. Nearby, St Thomas’ Bay with its sandy beach can be reached by a 5 minute bus ride.
The one thing you will be short of is time to sample everything on offer.
The airport is less than 20 minutes away by taxi and the host will happily organise an airport pick up upon request.
Although the apartment block does not have its own parking, being on a quiet and non-thoroughfare street means that it is usually fairly easy to find a place to park close to the apartment.
It should be noted that the apartment being on the 2nd floor without a lift is not suitable for persons with reduced mobility. This being said, the stairways are wide, well lit and not steep, so very easy to climb.
To avoid misunderstandings, please note the following:
a) Included in the nightly rental is 10kWh of electricity/day, which is more than adequate for average usage. For extra consumption, a coin meter is provided in the apartment set at €1 buys an extra 4 kWh of electricity. Please note that during periods of extreme Summer heat, you may need to add a few Euros per day extra to fully cover AC consumption.
b) There is a stay tax imposed by the Maltese Tourist Authority of €1.50/guest/night. This applies to persons of 18 years and older. This tax will be collected upon check-in at the apartment.
c) Check in and check out policy
• Normal check in times are 16:00 to 22:00
• Normal check out times are 08h00 – 10h00
• Late check out requests will be evaluated if possible depending on planned cleaning schedule.
• Check out between 10h00 - 12h00 will only be possible if house manager has confirmed it as such and will be free of charge.
• Check out after 12h00 will be subject to a late check out fee of €50 and payable in cash to house manager.
• Check out after 16h00 and extra nights’ stays will be subject to availability and a nightly rental according to the applicable nightly rate (late check out fee not applicable in this case) and is payable in cash to the house manager.
• For arrivals at the apartment that would be after 22h00, for logistical reasons, we will not be able to check you in but we can reserve for you a night’s accommodation in a local hotel where availability permits. Please contact us for this. (Kindly note that it will normally take you at least 1 hour between the actual time of the plane landing and your arrival at the apartment).
