And the story continues... . When the bus dropped me in the mid of no where and the driver said that it was Dhankar, I was hoping that I had reached there but I was quite wrong. I could see nothing but just a board reading that Dhankar monestry was still 8 odd kilometeres from that point and that's too at a good altitude. No means of transport were available there. So hiking was the only option. . Though initially I thought hiking eight kms should not be that difficult for me but very soon I had realized that I was wrong again. . Actually, there were two ways to hike from there. One was the main road and second was through the mid of hills and I decided to climb the hills which was certainly more challenging. Initially, it was fun and I was enjoying it but soon cold and high altitude started making it quite difficult. . My breathes became heavier all of sudden and I could feel the sudden change in altitude. And by that time, the Sun was also coming down. At that point, I was really hoping for some car or vehicle to pass by so that I could ask for some help but forget about vehicle, I was not able to see not even a single life there. . #DevsTravelBag "Bhaiya, how far is Dhankar monestry from here?" I asked my bus driver in a slow voice tone beacuse I had asked this question several times earlier and I could feel that he was feeling irritated now. . But he replied in a heavy tone, "I will let you know soon. You just do not worry". . It was hardly ten minutes from this conversation and all of sudden he stopped the bus and said, "Go..here is your Dhankar". . I got down from the bus and managed to take my backpack from the roof top and took a deep breath. It was already 3 O clock in the after noon. I was tired and just wanted to find a bed to rest for the day. But I think, I was wrong, very very wrong!! . All of sudden I realized that I was standing in the mid of no where. There were no signs of civilization there. All I could see a big gate which read that welcome to Dhankar but nothing else. Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Trans-Himalayan region between India and Tibet. Reaching here takes almost 12 hours of off-road drive from last inhabited town. In this middle of nowhere land, lies a 1000 year old monastery Kye Gompa, which is home to a few hundred Monks. It's hard to comprehend that so many years back few humans actually managed to reach here and made it their home.
