The bohemian Croix-Rousse district is a labyrinth of tree-lined squares lined with houses that once housed weavers' workshops. The Mur des Canuts fresco features a scene of silk-weaving workers, and the Maison des Canuts museum offers demonstrations of silk-weaving. The daily market on boulevard de la Croix-Rousse features stalls selling olives and cheese. Sophisticated patisseries, trendy wine bars and art galleries draw crowds.
