Staff were really good, friendly, attentive. The room was ok, but very hot with no obvious means to turn the heat down. At 02:30 we had to open the window wide to try and cool the room, leaving us with the hum of machines outside keeping us awake.
The radiators were not actually hot except the towel rail, so it seemed the hotel itself was the issue, being perfect at the bottom of the stairs and getting hotter as we walked up.
Breakfast was good when available but 3 warming trays failed meaning the chef was having to make things to order and other things were very delayed coming out. Staff did what they could and were apologetic.
The hotel feels in need of some renovation, while not being terrible. I think we'll probably look at a guest house next time, or maybe The Empire.
