Had a very good stay at The Royal Albert, keypad entry to entrance stairwell and room, recently decorated staircase to room on second level no lift. The room was very clean and comfortable with modern bathroom both recently renovated with tea and coffee facilities , all that we needed. Only downside was that we stayed on a Saturday night and breakfast wasn’t available until 11.30 the following morning which didn’t fit in with our plans. The pub itself was very welcoming with very efficient staff, we enjoyed our time there. Would definitely recommend.

Breakfast was little late if I’m Honest so didn’t eat there but food was fantastic.. banging shower and room very tidy.. would stay again plenty of parking and free.

It was a gorgeous room and bathroom all looked brand new. Huge TV on the wall toiletries & hairdryer, iron, kettle, tea, water, earplugs & lovely kingsize bed. 80 yards from St Helens train station & carpark where I left my car overnight. Would stay again if back in St Helens.

Central location. Very clean, the staff were great. I stayed in room 12, unfortunately there was a smell from the drains in the bathroom which at times was overwhelming. It was not possible to open the window in the bathroom. A shame, it did detract from the stay. My friend stayed in room 10, no problems at all in that room.

Everything was new and the accommodation was fantastic. Everywhere was very clean, and the pub was friendly and spotlessly maintained. It’s an ideal place to stay when working in the area. I will definitely stay again next time I’m in the area.

Facilities good but no staff very impersonal. No check in desk just sent a PIN number via e mail to access the accommodation Had to speak to t bar staff downstairs. For advice No lift allocated a room on the second floor had to lug heavy suitcases up several flights of stairs no body to help us . Would not stay here again

Rooms are absolutely gorgeous, beds are comfy and the TVs are massive. Pubs great staff are lovely and the breakfast is fantastic. And they provide earplugs with the room too as its right over the pub and opposite the train station so no noise disturbances.

Our room was , fresh and very clean. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of fluffy towels a large flat screen t.v. iron, ironing board etc.tea and coffee and bottled water.Also considering that there is a very busy pub right next door to the building were our room was, it was very quiet and we had a peaceful, comfortable nights sleep. If there was a downside I would say, the internet was not the best speed and maybe some snack packs of biscuits could have been provided for the room price charged, but overall, we were pleased and will stay their again for sure.

Room was booked 24hrs prior to visit. Room was great. Staff were very friendly. Locals equally welcoming. Lovely bar area with ample seating. Didnt get to enjoy breakfast due to needing to rush over to Lime Street to spend the rest of the day travelling home. However what was seen coming from the kitchen looked delicious!!

Parking was wonderful but breakfast changed from 09.00 to 11.00 must be reversed back to 09.00. A lot of people are not happy with this changes. Nobody wants to be hanging about due to work starting 09.00 away from the the hotel. 11.00 does not make any sense. I love this Royal Alfred and it's the best in the area. Thank you Emilia.

The rooms are above The Royal Alfred pub. An entry code is sent to you to gain access to the property and room. Staff are at hand in the pub should you need them. I didn’t have any problems accessing the room. My room was large with a King Bed. It was spotlessly clean. I was only staying for one night but would quite happily stay for longer in the future. The accommodation is a 20m walk from St Helens rail station so getting around is easy. The pub itself was busy but you couldn’t hear any noise from it in the room.

A new level of pub hotel

We were really impressed by both the rooms and the pub itself. Beautifully renovated to create a comfortable and memorable stay. Emilia, Paul, and the team couldn’t have been more welcoming. Live music (earplugs provided). Across the road from the station (live train times in pub). Even thoughtful enough to have a cooking room with oven, hob and fridge etc for guests. Would definitely stay again.

Room was lovely and very quiet considering the location. We were in a second floor room and the ceiling was a bit low for my 6'4" partner but everything was perfectly clean and very very comfortable. Not being able to get breakfast as the pub didn't open until half an hour after check out on a sunday was a bit of a pain. Luckily close to a few cafe's and other options so we managed. No option to store luggage that we were told about but we were only there a night so not really an issue for us and in fairness we didn't ask. We had dinner at the pub and it was good but the service was a little slow- it did seem to be very very busy so we might have just had bad luck. I did manage to break my foot after bumping into the end of the bed during the night so maybe keep a light handy and watch where you're going like I obviously didn't!!
