"The Bothy was a lovely place for a break away. Quiet but close to Moffat and beautiful walks all around. Karen was a wonderful host along with her dogs Suzy and Radley. Communication was quick and helpful. We loved the wood burning fire in the evenings. Thank you Karen for letting us enjoy The Bothy. Will definately be back in the future."

"We arrived late so it was dark. When we woke up Saturday morning the views were sensational. The campsite has six glamping pods which are well spaced so you do not feel on top of each other. Right off the main Moffat to Selkirk road but far enough back you do not hear a thing. Definitely recommend and will visit again."

"The Bothy is a great find. Intimate space ideal for a couple that would suit a small family too. Bothy was spotless. Some nice walks nearby and interesting spots a short drive away. The hot tub is really welcoming on a cold evening."

"This is a fantastic cottage in an adorable village. It has rolling hills, a burn and lots of sheep! The cottage itself was quite large and was fit for our family of 6, including adult children and their spouses. It was clean, decorated well and rather comfortable. There are amenities within walking distance such as a pub, museum, etc. We wished we had stayed longer and we'll definitely return!"

"Having stayed in Wanlockhead for a week at the end of June 2021, this property seemed like an ideal overnight stay during a house move from the the South Coast to Aberdeen. Within easy distance of the M74 and very peaceful. Loved the bold décor. Excellent nights rest , the downstairs bed was very comfortable and the property spotlessly clean."

"What a magical place. The cottage itself is very charming and supremely cozy (if you can accept interior design that not bothered in the slightest by the dernier cri); the vast Carmichael property, on which it is located, with its paddocks, forests, mystical ruins and a dog cemetery holds enough beauty and enough secrets to uncover for weeks, and everyone we came in contact with was very friendly. Highly recommended, hope to be coming back at some point. "

"Het huisje is oud en authentiek ingericht. Super netjes schoon en fijn ingedeeld. Aan alle dingen was gedacht. Matten voor de vieze schoenen, schone wasmachine en een zachte vloer. Heerlijke douche! We zijn gedurende ons verblijf bijna de estate niet af geweest. Op de 22 hectare grond die erbij hoort kan je heerlijk wandelende en zie je om iedere hoek een stuk gescheideners of vervallen ruïne "

"Warm and cozy sleeping with the shutters and curtains drawn. Respect the house, switch on the pump if you light the fire, and yes I loved the wood smoke smells, it is mostly round the fire, if the fire is only embers you can switch off the pump, it's circulating the hot water from the fire, I was able to see local interests and the wonderful fresh air, excellent countryside. The ruin of Carmicheal House makes me wonder at its one time beauty, and it's just a short walk to from the cottage,...
