"This is a lovely place to stay, very peaceful and quiet and close to Barnard Castle. The staff are friendly and the service was excellent. The rooms are as good as they look on the photos. Good WiFi and place to catch up on work near the bar area. I see it is a Wedding venue too, I’d say it’s a great place for a party. "

"From the minute we arrived, Lisa couldn't have done more for us. We felt completely catered for and had a wonderful stay. The school house has been renovated so beautifully and we loved hearing about and seeing the history of it. The bed was extremely comfy and we slept brilliantly, waking to a gorgeous home-coked breakfast. "Our stay at the Westgate Manor was one of the best hotel experiences we have had. Hosts, Stuart and Kathryn give a very high standard of personal service to us and made our short stay memorable. "The staff, the food at both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Parking is just across a quiet road. Our room however left us literally cold. Old building, 'wavy' floors, single glazed casement windows facing the prevailing - brisk - wind and an outside temperature of close to freezing. Then the heating gets switched off for the night ! Considering that this was the most expensive 'one nighter' on our recent trip, we were less than satisfied."

"What a lovely old school pub and hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great (a lot of locals seemed to be eating here too). Room was simple but comfortable and very clean. There are a few areas that are a little tired and worn, but not to the level of impacting guests. I would be happy to stay here again"
