The best way to travel in Tangkahan is by tubing down the river. It's peaceful, safe, unbelievably beautiful and you may even spit snakes and monkeys in the jungle on the way down.
The locals farm rubber or palm oil in this area. While it gives them a living and they are not in the hands of big business ( or are they?) look to the back of the photo to see what happens to the rainforest.
The elephants at Tangkahan have a fantastic life. Patrollers and protectors of the jungle they have river baths and jungle treks daily. A beautiful site to see.
