Charming riverside stone built property in Perigord

  • La Plume d'Oie es una propiedad construida en piedra situada en La Roque -Gageac votado como uno de los pueblos más bellos de Francia y tiene magníficas vistas sobre el río Dordoña. El edificio consta de tres plantas conectadas por una escalera de caracol de roble. La planta baja de terracota incluye el salón con dos sofás grandes, un sillón de mimbre, gabinetes de castaño, estantería y televisión. En el muro de piedra hay una chimenea de latón.
    En el segundo piso se encuentra la cocina bien equipada con lavadora, plancha y acceso al patio / jardín / barbacoa. En el otro lado, la cocina se abre hacia el primer rellano que conduce al comedor y a uno de los dormitorios, ambos con pequeños balcones con vistas al río. En el tercer piso hay dos habitaciones dobles, una con vistas al río y la otra al jardín y al acantilado. Todas las habitaciones tienen baño privado con wc. Lavabos de ducha y baños. Hay dos entradas a través del jardín o del frente. El edificio es amplio y luminoso y está decorado con buen gusto con muchas características finas. Los gruesos muros de piedra lo mantienen fresco cuando hace calor. Hay muchos paseos espectaculares que comienzan a pocos minutos de la propiedad. Hay una panadería prácticamente adyacente que incluye tiendas de regalos, bares y restaurantes en el pueblo. El pueblo de Cenac a 10 minutos tiene buenas instalaciones de compras con un gran mercado los martes. También hay un centro médico de farmacia y dentista.
    Sólo 15 minutos en coche desde aquí a Sarlat, la ciudad principal. El aeropuerto de Bergerac está a unos 55 minutos y el aeropuerto de Brive 45. Los trenes van desde Sarlat a Burdeos, que dura unos 45 minutos.

A lovely traditional home in the middle of the village. The home has all the amenities required for a home from home. The owner was there to greet us and was very helpful.

Lovely place to stay central to many locations in the area. Need to let people know about the three levels of spiral stairs with heavy luggage.

Perfect property for exploring the Dordogne valley, tucked into the cliffs of Le Roque looking at the River, with bedrooms and bathrooms (including toilets) for all 3 couples. We had a fabulous trip hiking, canoeing, visiting ancient cave paintings and exploring all the beauty of the Dordogne Valley. Thank you, Marc for making our stay memorable

This was our 2nd time staying in Marc’s lovely place which is right on the Dordogne River with a stunning cliff backdrop. Marc and Jennie are wonderful hosts and this place has everything you need. We hope to return another time again.

Excellent sejour dans ce logement idealement placé à la Roque Gageac.Espaces bien disposés, chaque chambre beneficie de sa salle de bain. La cuisine est très bien equipée. Un espace extérieur permet de profiter à l'ombre du repas. Les restaurants et les commerces sont accessibles à pieds, c'est parfait. L'accueil etait egalement a la hauteur, nous reviendrons.

Stunning location

A beautiful house, spotlessly clean, spacious and with fabulous views, and a lovely private garden at the rear. We had a wonderful week in the house. It's a perfect base to explore the area. We really enjoyed shopping at the many local markets and eating at the house in the evenings, either in the dining room overlooking the river or in the pretty garden. The kitchen is superbly equipped for good cooking! The hosts are very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful location in fascinating Roque-Cagneac overlooking the River.

Had a great time in this historical town. Good choice of restaurants within walking distance or a short drive. The property is well equipped with comfortable bedrooms and more bathrooms than bedrooms; a big plus. Owners were very helpful and very responsive to text questions although we didn’t have many.

River view cottage

What a great place to base out of for visiting the Dordogne area…the cottage was perfect for us and our friends. It was very comfortable with a well appointed kitchen, living area to gather in and each couple had their own bathroom. Also, Marc was easy to communicate with directions, etc.

Wonderful stay in the Perigord

The property was immaculate and very comfortable. Location was spectacular, nestled at the base of a lovely cliff side village along the Dordogne River. Hosts were most kind, leaving us an assay of local fruits and eggs from their home.

We enjoyed every minute of this beautiful, well-appointed 3-level in La Roque-Gageac. The kitchen worked perfectly--after all, the host is a retired chef! We found everything we needed, washing machine, etc. This 3-level sits below the gorgeous cliffs, adjacent to the wide stone stairway that takes you up to the cliffside roadways with their breathtaking views of the Dordogne River. And from all three levels of this 3-level, you look straight out at the river. We were met by the host who took care of every need (parking pass, restaurant and cafe suggestions). He was delightful. While on the street side we could look out to the river, in back we found a sweet terrace with picnic table (and clothes line, also helpful), looking up through flowers and vines at the limestone cliffs above. We felt very lucky indeed to be in this beautiful place.

Superb!

The house is even lovelier than the pictures, with so many charming details: stone walls, wood and tile floors, extraordinary views. It's well located as a base for travel in the region as well as convenient for visiting this fascinating town. Shops and restaurants are a short walk away, and the Marqueyssac Gardens and several chateaux just minutes away by car. Mark is a kind and attentive host who made sure we had all we needed during our visit. An exceptional stay all around!

Ideal location and helpful hosts

The house was spotless. The owners left us some eggs (from their chickens) and fruit which was much appreciated. Marc and Jenny suggested places to visit and responded quickly to all our questions. The location was very centrally located to all the sites we visited. Beautiful little town!

This is the Place!

Beautiful spacious 3bedroom 4 bathroom apartment with kitchen,dining room and sitting room overlooking the Dorsogne. Everything exceeded our expectstions. Our Host and his team were magnificent. We can’t wait to return!!.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property in La Roque-Gageac. The apartment was very comfortable for the three of us. The location is very convenient in the town, with shops and restaurants near at hand. We had a beautiful view of the river, especially from the dining area. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The proprietor even provided some basic foodstuffs before our arrival. He was also very helpful with providing additional services for us, and he answered communications very quickly. We would highly recommend this location.

Staying at La Plume D'Oie in La Roque-Gageac was a very pleasurable experience. It is very special to be able to stay at this location in the beautiful village of La Roque-Gageac; from the front of this property you can look out over the river and from the back you can see the garden, majestic cliff and medieval fort above you. We were there during an intense heat wave and it was warm, but I would still return in a heartbeat. The property was ideal for our family as each bedroom was private and had its own bathroom. We could gather together in the sitting room on the street level (where it stayed cool on hot days) or the dining area to eat (next floor up), but could also have privacy to recharge in our rooms. The property was very clean and tidy. The beds were very comfortable, the sheets were high quality and though the beautiful little village can be busy with tourists during the day, the nights are super peaceful; we all slept exceedingly well every night of our weeklong stay. The kitchen was well equipped, and the washing machine was helpful to have; there was a drying rack to air dry our clothes on the back patio. Mark was an excellent host who was communicative and shared excellent and helpful recommendations for local boulangeries, restaurants and shopping.

Christmas stay

For a group of 5 people spending Christmas in the Dordogne, we found the accommodation had everything we needed. On arrival Marc and Jenny, gave us a welcome pack of fruit, eggs and milk and were there to greet us and give us all the information we required.We spent a very pleasant 5 days relaxing and enjoying the local area. Perfect position for enjoying the area. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Fantastic holiday

A big thank you to Marc and Jennie who are brilliant hosts. They were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful . The property was spotless, spacious and very well equipped. The location couldn’t be better, beautiful views all round and a lovely terrace garden in which we enjoyed many bbqs. There were fresh flowers throughout the house and having essentials in the fridge and a beautiful bowl of fruit on arrival made us feel at home straight away . We’d definitely like to go again .

Beautiful setting on the Dordogne

The host was there promptly to meet us and tell us all about the property The outlook was amazing with beautiful views of the Dordogne River The property is spacious but a little dated. The bathrooms were plentiful, four in all. However the water pressure was poor. Overall a positive experience
