Built over 100 years ago, TAKEYA Gojo West is a fully licensed, fully renovated, traditional Japanese townhouse. Equipped with modern amenities including NETFLIX, free WiFi, and air conditioning, the property has been renovated to the highest standards by award winning architects.

There are supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, pharmacies as well as 100 yen shops within 5 minutes walk.

The Karasuma Subway line as well as the Keihan Train line are within 5 minutes walk.

Featuring the perfect blend of traditional charm and modern amenities, you can experience the atmosphere of a traditional Kyoto townhouse and yet enjoy modern amenities such as Netflix and WiFi.

With 2 western bedrooms and a Japanese-style tatami room, this house can sleep up to 6 people in comfort. Featuring 2 full bathrooms, the house is well equipped by Japanese standards.

The location is superb, only 10 minutes walk to the main shopping street of Shijo, and 15 minutes walk to the geisha district of Gion.

The entire house is available for the use of the guests.

Situated just off Gojo Street, TAKEYA Gojo West has one of the best locations in Kyoto.

There are supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, pharmacies as well as 100 yen shops within 5 minutes walk.

The Karasuma Subway line as well as the Keihan Train line are within 5 minutes walk.

A 10 minute walk to the north takes you to Shijo Street, where all the major departmental stores are located, such as Takashimaya, Daimaru and OIOI.

Gion, the most famous geisha district of Kyoto, is located just to the east of Shijo, allowing you to carry out both shopping and sightseeing with ease.

Kiyomizu Dera, the most important temple in Kyoto and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a 15 minutes walk away.

From Kyoto Station, TAKEYA Gojo West is only 1 stop away on the Karasuma subway line. You can also catch a taxi, which will only take 5 minutes or so.

Excellent stay (10/2024)

My family and I stayed at this location at the end of October 2024. It was clean, spacious enough for 5 adults, and conveniently located within walking distance of Nishiki Market, which was great. Beds were soft, showers were excellent, toilets of course amazing, would stay again next time we come to Japan. Working with the property manager was very easy and courteous through email in the weeks prior to the visit and was very responsive by email when I had a question about the AC at the location. I had literally no problems and would recommend this location to anyone traveling through.

Perfect house and location

We so loved our stay here. It was a perfect way to start our journey around Japan. The house has the tradition feel of Kyoto but with modern comforts. Although the mattresses were on the harder side (which we’ve come to expect in Japan) we loved our stay here. A great location to position ourselves to walk to all the major attractions. Thanks for having us!
