The Neighborhood:

Poipu Kai is a 70-acre resort community in Poipu. The community consists of seven condo developments with their own swimming pools, an 8-court Poipu Kai Tennis Club, a community pool and hot tub, and the beautiful Green Belt, garden paths connecting the areas of the resort. The resort is between the Hyatt and Shipwreck`s Beach to Brennecke`s and Poipu beaches. Restaurants to walk to are the Grand Hyatt Kauai, the Poipu Bay Golf Course, Kalapaki Joe`s, and Brennecke`s Restaurant.



Getting Around:

When visiting Kauai, we highly recommend renting a car to enhance your experience and give you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace. While there are other transportation options available, such as the Kauai Bus, it's important to note that the bus service may not run as frequently as you might expect.



Having a rental car allows you to easily access all the incredible sights and attractions that Kauai has to offer. From the stunning Na Pali Coast to the breathtaking Waimea Canyon, having your own transportation gives you the flexibility to visit these iconic locations on your own schedule.

Very nice location, unit, and grounds. Appreciated all the kitchen supplies for food prep and the supplies (toiletries, dish soap, etc). Unit is unpleasantly hot for large portions of the daytime whether plantation shudders and small windows are open or closed. The upstairs AC unit was blowing warm air until we discovered a vent on its backside needed adjusting (it was 93 degrees upstairs until 11:30 at night our first night). Overall inefficient cooling of the bedrooms due slatted bedroom doors, and older portable (and noisy) AC units. The place would benefit immensely from central air or at least updated ductless wall units (needed in the living room also). Ran fans continuously, saw at least 2 work trucks installing AC in nearby units during our stay, construction in the adjacent unit daily but they waited until 9 a.m. to start so this did not impact sleep. Would suggest a folding drying rack to allow swimsuits and rash guards to air dry. We skipped the pool after our first dip...it feels heated and not refreshing in summer weather, but the pool area is overall well maintained and empty of people.

The location was fantastic. Having the two swimming pools was wonderful and being so close to the beach made it a great holiday. Our issue was with the living room. Am extra armchair would have enabled our family of 5 to sit comfortably together and having some air-conditioning in the living room would’ve helped a lot.

Just ok.

The property itself is beautiful and walking distance to the beach. The condo is just ok. The good: close to the beach. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen had the appliances and dishes we needed. It served its purpose as a place to sleep and eat breakfast. We were able to do laundry which was nice too. The not so good: It had to be 90 degrees inside when we arrived. The air conditioners hose upstairs was damaged ( torn off & cracked ) therefore could not be used. We reached out and were told maintenance was working at another property and couldn’t come out until the following day leaving us 24 hours without the ability to use it. Thankfully we found several other fans and toughed it out and kept windows opened which helped. The shower in the master and hallway does not drain properly. Had to turn off shower 1/2 way thru to let it drain. There were 3 cockroaches in the kitchen during our 5 day stay. The master bathroom’s air conditioner leaks and sounds like a heavy rainfall or shower running. Hopefully that will be fixed before next party rents. The toilet does not shut off and the window can not be closed in the bathroom as the outside latch is broken off. Not enough towels. Thankful for the washer as we washed towels 3x. Towels are not expensive so not sure why they were limited. I personally would not stay here again but our options were limited since we needed more space. If you are just there to sleep and eat it is ok. Not a place to entertain guest.

Wonderful Stay

Our family of 5 stayed for 9 days. The location was amazing! A very short walk to the beach and food. The condo was very clean and had everything it advertised. We did have an issue with the main bedroom shower being clogged but we called and they sent someone out that same day to address it! The 3rd bedroom upstairs gets pretty warm in late afternoon even with the air conditioner but not enough to be a huge deal. All 3 bedrooms had air conditioning which was nice. The beds were all comfortable and the pillows were great! We loved using the beach umbrellas, chairs, beach towels and boogie boards available! We would definitely recommend this condo and we would for sure visit again!

We enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect...close to the beach. It was nice to have beach chairs and a couple umbrellas. The beds were great. The kitchen had all of the essentials.

Wonderful location with the comfort of home

Property was great, clean and comfortable. Wonderful location. Had some beach items. The cold bag was small so maybe get a cooler while you’re there, and no goggles for snorkeling but had chairs, umbrella, flippers and boogies boards! We will definitely be coming back!

A Little Disappointed

Loved the location. I had inquired about a number of things and unfortunately all were not as told. Ice machine didn’t work and there were no ice trays. No AC in the Master bedroom. Hair dryer was not as I was told. No response when I called to ask about a notice I received from security due to having to leave the doors open at night for air. Mahalo!

Lovely place to stay

This was a lovely clean condo in a beautifully landscaped resort with several swimming pools and easy access to the shore. We saw many turtles on the beach and it was easy to get into town for scuba diving and other activities. We enjoyed quiet walks around the resort area and swimming in the pools, which were never crowded or noisy.

Great location but shower doesn't work

The vacation rental is in a great location with walking distance to beaches with access to swimming pools, etc. The kitchen was sufficient to use for breakfast and light meals. The portal A/C was cool enough but could be colder. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the rental. The biggest negative was that this unit was advertised with 3 working bathrooms. The primary bedroom shower did not work. There was a workaround but from communication with management, some renters previously could operate the workaround to get the shower working, and some could not. After a few days of going back and forth, management finally sent out maintenance to look at the shower. Maintenance said they will have to come back to fix and the drain had an issue as well. From a previous review in June/July, the reviewer also said they had drain issues in the same bathroom. So I paid for 3 bathroom house but we had to squeeze everyone into the 2 smaller showers the whole time we were there. So this I am not happy about.

Great location; not quite five star experience

Fantastic location, exactly as described! But…Master bath shower was entirely clogged and essentially out of commission (3-5 min shower until basin would overflow into floor). Alerted management immediately the first evening within 2 hours of arrival. Five days later, after additional requests to address the problem, it was not addressed and there was zero communication about the problem for the last two days. Master bath AC control panel did not work, so limited to one pre-set setting (freezing and waste of electricity). Washer ruined first set of laundry due to extreme mold smell. We used bleach to try to clean it out so we could keep using it. Has potential to be a five star experience as advertised but needs a little more attention from management to get there.

Perfect location

This condo is well maintained and perfectly located. Our favorite beaches of the vacation were right here, just a few minutes walk. One beach was a little rougher and good for body surfing and boogie boarding. We saved that one for low tide. Further down the beach was a calm cove and even further down a calmer beach that still had some waves to play in and fish to see with snorkel gear. Brenneke's is right here and a great spot for food and snacks. There is also a surf shop right here to rent or buy gear. However, the condo was equiped with everything we needed for the beach: chairs, boogie boards, mats, toys, snorkel gear, cooler and an intertube floatie. The condo itself was plently large and comfortable for 6 people. The downstairs location made it convenient to hose off all sand before entering condo. Any sand that was missed could be easily vacuumed up before being tracked into bedrooms. Washer and dryer were available so we packed light. We stopped at Costco on the way in to get some staples but previous renters had left paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, sunscreen, bug spray. We were pleasantly surprised it was not buggy here much at all, except for a hike we took inland. Having a kitchen allowed us to eat breakfast and lunch at the condo and save money for nice dinners. We would definitely stay here, again. Best spot on the island and very clean and spacious.

Wow. This place was better than advertised. Location was phenomenal. Minutes from the beach and 2 excellent pools and tennis courts and a sports bar. The unit was clean and well stocked for our family group of 6. Really nice patio to sit on any time of day, quiet and looking out at a large green space. Barbq was close and good. Really can’t say enough good about this. Thanks.
