Very friendly staff with the most amazing swimming pool. Only negative was the fact we were staying in low season so there was only two other sets of guests but for some reason the hotel put us all next to each other so you could literally hear your neighbours every move. Aside from that it was an amazong place to stay

This property is so serene and peaceful, surrounded by lush greenery. You can see plenty of wild life from peacocks, iguanas to gecko’s, which we got to experience first hand. We were told that sometimes elephants venture and drink from the river further away from the property that can be seen from the rooms, we were unlucky not to see them The staff were all really friendly, kind and accommodating. Lovely, clean swimming pool. We came as a family of 5 to climb Sigiriya and en route to the East Coast.

Magnifique endroit calme et paisible. Près du rocher du lion et du temple bouda . Le personnel adorable gentil. Mais les chambres été infesté de Fourmis, ils nous ont mis du produit plusieurs fois,au réveil des cadavres au sol 😓. Vraiment dommage

Pleasant stay at Pothana Village, the highlight was definitely the pool and staff. The room was decent, but the bathroom could do with some upgrades. There was a gecko in the room and a couple of bugs, but given the properties location it’s to be expected. I think other reviews have been abit overly critical of this, but the location is right by a lake. Loved watching the peacocks roaming around, some monkeys and all of the friendly dogs. Staff were really friendly and accommodating, always smiling and hospitable.

We stayed for 3 nights Denis and the staff were so lovely and helped us with organising safari and hiking, only a short drive to town, best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka can’t wait to come back

Amazing grounds, tons of wildlife on the property including a ton of monkeys and peacocks. Super kind owners, excellent Sri Lankan food (and beers!). Nice pool, and really close to Siguriya Rock and nearby businesses. Can’t wait to return.

Lovely quiet location with sounds of nature, dining outdoors with lovely gardens, amazing pool! Peacocks and other birds keep you company at breakfast. Room quite basic but does the job, hospitality was very good, as is the location for Sigiriya and national parks. Highly recommend!

Wow, this place is absolutely amazing and beautiful, with so much wildlife right at your doorstep! You can see elephants, monkeys, peacocks, and tons more. The hotel staff were fantastic too. I’d definitely come back and stay here again. It’s such a beautiful hotel!

Amazing people! All the staff were extremely kind, and the manager organized our entire stay, advising us on the best places to visit, the ideal order to see them, and even stepping in as our driver and guide for a day. The location is also great: quiet and peaceful, yet only 15 minutes from Sigiriya Rock. The rooms were comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to make the most of their stay in Sigiriya!

Very boutique style hotel, you will feel like you have a private hotel, very quiet, not many rooms, service is amazing very personalised and everyone is so nice and helpful, also location is good close but secluded, and many wild animals around the gardens which is great. food is delicious, and room are spacious. Very happy with all, super recommended.

Stayed 3 nights in a twin room. Exactly like picture with balcony area overlooking back of lake. Breakfast was plentiful. Only had dinner once but the food was very good. Staff are lovely and the pool area is very relaxing. Beautiful Peacocks on the property.

The food and service were really good. The owner and manager made us feel welcome and took care of even the small needs. The pool is great and the property borders a lake so you'll be away from the crowds while still being close to Lion Rock. The rooms had AC, were spacious and comfortable but could use some more love.

The property was set just about 2mins from the main highway, making it very quiet. We loved that we couldn't hear any vehicles at all. The property was filled with lots of trees and we could hear and see peacocks many times during the day freely roaming around. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. We liked the breakfast very much. The staff was very courteous as well. The room was very spacious and clean as well, and had everything we needed. Overall, very happy with this property. Strongly recommend it.

Det var dejligt og godt for miljøet, at der ikke automatisk blev gjort rent hver dag. Luften på værelset føltes en smule fugtig, men vejret er/var også fugtigt, så det er nok svært at holde helt tørt. Hotellets have er fantastisk. Man er nærmest på safari under frokosten, hvor påfugle, andre flotte fugle, jordegern og varaner befinder sig i træer og græs. Personalet er så behageligt.

Vi havde et helt fantastisk ophold på Pothana Village. Personalet var virkelig søde, hjælpsomme og imødekommende, særligt Tila! Hotel manageren, Dennis, var meget sød og sørgede for, at vi fik alle de oplevelser, vi kunne tænke os til en fair pris. Poolområdet var rigtig dejligt og rent, der er en masse dyr lige omkring hotellet, og værelserne er udmærkede. Det eneste ærgerlige er, at det er svært at komme til hotellet efter mørkets frembrud. Man skal ned ad en mørk vej med mange huller. Der kan være vilde elefanter, så man må ikke gå, men skal bruge en tuktuk eller hotellets bil. Tuktukerne er lidt påpasselige med at køre derind på grund af risiko for elefanter.

I was expecting clean but basic facilities for the price of the room. Basic yes, but the rooms were damp with an overbearing smell of bleach and insecticide in the bedroom and - shall we say drains in the dischevelled bathroom. The blinds were broken and held together with string. To be fair, the sheets were clean but there was no hot water. We were advised on checking out after one night that there was a switch for a water heater on the outside of the building, but nobody had bothered to tell us. The "village" was situated up a very bumpy road which you would probably not want to walk along in the dark and to be honest had a rather sinister feel. To be honest, we could not wait to leave.
