Welcome to Sound Waves, a beautifully decorated canal-front retreat tucked inside the gated community of Colington Harbour. Ideal for boaters and guests craving a quieter side of the Outer Banks, this home offers peaceful waterfront living just a short drive from the beach. Inside, enjoy a spacious great room with soaring cathedral ceilings, a cozy gas fireplace (seasonally), and stunning sound views that spill out onto your private deck, perfect for morning coffee or sunset cocktails.

Your vacation truly begins outdoors. Set on the canal with easy access to the Albemarle and Roanoke Sounds, this home is a dream for water lovers. Bring your boat, launch a kayak, paddleboard, or jet ski, or try your luck at some of the best crabbing the Outer Banks has to offer, you may even catch dinner right from the backyard. A small waterfront deck makes enjoying the view effortless, and a fenced dog run ensures your four-legged family member feels right at home too.

Experience the laid-back island lifestyle the locals love. The homeowner has thoughtfully stocked Sound Waves with amenities designed for fun, relaxation, and memorable evenings together, including access to the community pool (**), sound-side beach area, marina, kayaks, fishing gear, cornhole boards, hammocks, a tiki bar area, propane fire pit, yard bowling, and multiple outdoor seating spaces. Inside, enjoy Roku TVs throughout, Wii stations, and even a seafood boil burner and pot for classic Outer Banks feasts.

Colington Harbour is a family-friendly waterfront community offering a saltwater pool (**), tennis courts, a sound-front sandy beach, and a large park. Guests may also use the community boat launch (fee) for easy days on Kitty Hawk Bay spent fishing, water-skiing, or simply soaking up the sun.

Sound Waves offers the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and coastal charm, your ideal Outer Banks getaway.

A Good Time Was Had By All!

The house was clean and spacious. There was plenty of room for our party of 5 adults and one small child. The kitchen was well stocked with tools to cook. We cooked almost every night. Lots of indoor and outdoor games were available with TV and electronic entertainment in every bed room. The quiet family oriented community includes a large pool and fishing dock. Plenty of restaurants grocery, and entertainment nearby and a 20 min drive to dog friendly Kitty Hawk or Nags Head beaches. I highly recommend this property for vacationing families.

Accommodations were good. Wish the kayaks and paddle boat could have been easier to get in and out of the canal off the dock. We didn't even try.

Fabulous family time

Sound Waves was a great “home base” for our family adventure. Everyone had enough space, we were able to bunk our big family comfortably. The kayaks were a big hit for adventurous members. Kids loved the sound-side beach. Enjoyed having movie nights.

Cute Location

My friends and I stayed here for a long weekend and loved it. The house was clean and had just enough room for us (7 adults and 2 kids). There are a lot of stairs so beware, you'll definitely get a workout while staying here. ;) The view over the canal is nice and its a relaxing quiet neighborhood. There is a guard shack you drive through when entering the community. That wasn't mentioned in any of the information we received prior to arrival but it didn't cause any issues for us. We all enjoyed our stay, for a waterfront, non beachfront home, it was a great spot!

Great Spring Stay

My husband, dog, and I stayed alone for the first part of our stay. It was super relaxing with beautiful views of the canal and the sound on the horizon. Sunsets were nice from the upper deck. We mostly used the upper floor and outdoor yard spaces during this time. It was a perfect neighborhood to run/walk the dog around. And only a short drive back to the main drag for groceries/restaurants/beach. The second part of the stay my husbands parents and brothers came and the entry level was perfect for them to stay on and each family unit to have some separate space while still gathering in the upper kitchen/living area or outside. The kayaks and paddle boats were fun to take out on the canals and explore the neighborhood or go out to the sound. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again.

It was pretty nice, comfortable and convenient. There were just some really simple little inexpensive fixes that could take place. However, the main important things worked.
